Region G Aspiring Programming AwardThe Region G Aspiring Programming Award will be given to the collegiate and professional section(s) with the best program for career guidance/outreach or professional development.

RecognitionAn award will be given to both a collegiate and professional section for an outstanding program. The time frame for the activity to have been completed in is January 1 of the previous SWE fiscal year through December 31 of current SWE fiscal year. Cash grants based on funds available may be distributed at the discretion of the Region G Awards Committee.

Submission Format• Please email all submissions in Word Document or PDF File to the Region G Awards Chair with the subject line Programming_SectionName. Receipt will be confirmed via email.

• In 1,000 words or less please highlight your section’s career guidance/outreach or professional development program.

• The Report will be judged based on the requirements listed in Report Content.

• Format for the Report must be as follows:o Word Document or PDF File ONLYo Save File as ‘Programming_SectionName’o Incomplete packages or those that exceed or do not follow the requirements will be removed from consideration.

Report ContentInclude a Title Page with Title (Programming Award), section name, and name, address, email, and phone number of person filing report

Region G Achieving Collegiate Section Award

The Region G Achieving Collegiate Section Award is designed to mirror the Outstanding Collegiate Section Award given at the National Conference. The award is based on the

Collegiate Section’s ability to meet SWE’s Strategic Priorities and will be assessed on the section’s self evaluation, report, and activity documentation.

RecognitionAwards will be given to a Collegiate Section within Region G based on activities which have occurred in the current SWE fiscal year (since July 1).Note: Cash grants based on funds available will be distributed at the discretion of the Region G Awards Committee.

Any collegiate section attaining the minimum levels of participation will be recognized with a certificate or plaque.

Certificate of Participation - < 50 points (self evaluation form) Certificate of Merit – 50 to < 80 points (self evaluation and judging) Bronze Award – 80 to < 120 points (self evaluation and judging) Silver Award – 120 to < 160 points (self evaluation and judging) Gold Award – 160 to 190 points (self evaluation and judging)

Eligibility Collegiate Sections in compliance with SWE Bylaws (National and Collegiate) An annual report and a financial report were both filed the previous fiscal year Collegiate Section President must be a member in good standing for current fiscal year Collegiate Section Treasurer must be a member in good standing for current fiscal year Collegiate Section Counselor must be a member in good standing for current fiscal year

Submission FormatAll submission must be submitted electronically in WORD or PDF format. Email your report to Region G Awards Chair and to [email protected] with subject line Region G Achieving Collegiate Section. Your report file is to be named in the following manner: Region G Achieving _Section Name. Receipt will be confirmed via e-mail.

Organize this section by the four Strategic Priorities. For each priority, briefly highlight 1-2 innovative or expanded activities that had a major impact on your section and enabled you to meet your objectives for that priority. It should describe how it impacted the section (e.g., provided more opportunities to get members involved or gave section publicity on campus).

Region G Advancing Leader Award

The Region G Advancing Leader Award may be given to individual collegiate and/or professional who has been actively engaged in an engineering or technology degree, has demonstrated outstanding technical excellence, and has consistently engaged with SWE. Candidates are encouraged to develop their portfolio in anticipation of applying for National SWE Awards such as Emerging Leader, Distinguished New Engineer, New Faces of Engineering, Collegiate Member Award, Outstanding Faculty Advisor, and Outstanding SWE Counselor Award.

EligibilityAll candidates must be a SWE Region G member in good standing at the time of nomination. Eligible collegiate members will graduate within the SWE Fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) of application. Eligible professional members will have at least 3 years and no more than 15 years of experience as of December 31 of the current SWE fiscal year. RecognitionAn award may be given to both a collegiate and professional individual. Cash grants based on funds available will be distributed at the discretion of the Region G Awards Committee.

Submission FormatEntry is due to Region G Awards Committee Chair. Nomination Packages must include the following information:

• Completed Nomination form containing Nominee Personal Info

• Formal Statement highlighting the nominee’s achievements in the area for which he/she is being nominated (3,500 words or less) covering the main criteria of the award

• Letter of Recommendation from Nominating Section, Region G MAL Representative, or Region G Officer

• Letter of Recommendation from a SWE leader

• Letter of Recommendation from an educational leader (collegiate nominee only) or professional colleague (professional nominee only)

Judging CriteriaAchievements Demonstrating Leadership (50%)Discuss the nominee’s active engagement in an engineering or technology degree and achievements demonstrating leadership in her discipline/profession. This should include details on her leadership role, what responsibilities she had in this role, and tangible results of the project/team.

Community Involvement and Leadership Activities (50%)Discuss the nominee’s involvement in the community including the leadership roles held in community activities, including SWE. Emphasis should be given to activities in which the nominee was leading an event or activity.

Region G Gem Award

The Region G Gem Award will be given to a professional who has advanced and achieved successes in engineering technical career (academic, commercial industry, government), has demonstrated outstanding technical excellence, and has consistently supported women in STEM over her lifetime. Candidates are encouraged to develop their portfolio in anticipation of applying for National SWE Awards such as Work Life Balance, Entrepreneur Award, Distinguished Service, Fellow Grade, Distinguished Engineering Educator, Rodney D. Chipp, Resnik Challenger Medal, Upward Mobility, and Achievement Awards.

EligibilityAll candidates must be a SWE Region G member in good standing at the time of nomination. Eligible professionals will have at least 10 years of experience as of December 31 of the current SWE fiscal year.

RecognitionThis award will be given to a professional member. Cash grants based on funds available will be distributed at the discretion of the Region G Awards Committee.

Region G Membership AwardThe Region G Membership Award will be given to the collegiate and professional section(s)

with the best membership growth.

Overall membership growth and retention will be scored on the basis of SWE’s national membership goals:

• Professional Sections: 80% Retention & 25% Growth• Collegiate Sections : 55% Retention & 60% Growth

RecognitionAn award will be given to both a collegiate section and professional section. Cash grants based on funds available will be distributed at the discretion of the Region G Awards Committee.

Submission FormatNo submission is required for consideration of these awards. The section growth and retention will be calculated directly from the Professional and Collegiate Membership Reports published by Headquarters.

Judging Basis• 10 assigned if the growth or retention goal has been met or exceeded• 0-9 assigned proportionally between 0%-goal %i.e. – a professional retention score of 40% would receive a 5; a collegiate growth score of 30%

would receive a 5

Region G Membership Anniversary Recognition

Region G Members in good standing will be recognized on the anniversary of their join date to SWE. The join date will be that contained in the online directory SWE database: “member joined date.” Recognition will be at 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, etc years of membership.

Region G is not responsible for any information in the database, correct or incorrect.

Region G Section Charter Anniversary Recognition

Region G Sections in good standing will be recognized on the anniversary of their charter date. The section charter date will be that contained in the online documents on the SWE website and SWE Community. Recognition will be at 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, etc years of continued charter in SWE.

Region G is not responsible for any information in the database, correct or incorrect.
