Objectives

• Tobringtogetherclimatestakeholders,regionalclimateserviceproviders,climatescien-tistsandthemediatodiscusscommunicationapproaches,scientifictools,stakeholderneedsandtheroleofmassmediainshapingperspectivesonclimatevariabilityandchange.

• Tocollectivelyauthoradraftmanuscriptthatdescribesthefactorsandprerequisitesthatinfluencetheeffectivedeliveryofregionalclimateservices,informedbythevariouspresentationsandparticipantexperiences.

Targetlength:12-15pagespublished(~6,000words).

TargetAudience:usersandprovidersofregionalclimateservices,includingthose withtheresponsibilitytodesignandoverseetheimplementationofregionalclimate servicestrategies.

Structure/content:fivemajorsectionscorrespondingtoeachoftheworkshopses- sions,bookendedbyintroductoryandconcludingrecommendationssections.

Format

• Theworkshopisdividedintofivehalf-daysessions.Threeorfourinvitedspeakerswillopeneachsessionfollowedbyaselectionofcontributedpapers.Afterthespeakingpor-tionofthesession,participantswillbreakoutintowritinggroupstopreparedrafttext.Acontinentalbreakfast,lunchandbreaksnacksincludingcoffeeandteawillbeprovidedthroughouttheday.

• Workshopparticipantsaredividedintofivegroups,onegroupcorrespondingtothefiveworkshopsessiontopics.Eachgroupwillmeetfivetimesastheworkshopevolves.

• Eachwritinggrouphastwoparticipantswhoseresponsibilityisto“holdthepen”fortheirgroup.

• Itisexpectedthateachgroupwillproduce~3pagesofdrafttextontheirtopicasinputtothepaper.
