• Wheat farming is the major agriculture found in the region

mostly open space made up of farms and ranches.

• There are no large major cities as seen in the other regions, but there are some important cities.

Climate is Semi-Arid (Steppe) and highland Climate.

Rocky Mountains major physical featureContinental Divide is found in the Rocky

Mountains. It divides the where the water follows either east to the Mississippi or west to Pacific Ocean

• Mountains make it hard for development of the region.• Very little farming except in the foot hills of the Rocky

Mountains. Livestock herding also found in the region.• Logging is found in the region• Coal mining in Wyoming• Tourism is the largest industry. Skiing in the winter.

National Parks such as Yellowstone National Park brings in many tourist in the summer.

• Texas is the largest state in the continental United States and is large enough to be considered a region by itself.
