Teri Carden Founder Reviewmyams.com

Teri Carden is an association junkie and self-proclaimed girl geek in normal girl’s clothing. She has been an association executive for 10 years. Along the way she has rubbed elbows

with the association industry’s finest professionals. With the support of mentors, colleagues, volunteer leaders, and bosses, she has always been able to fulfill her incessant desire to geek out at work. This meant testing and implementing new technologies such as online communities, stretching to new marketing heights with eye-catching campaigns, introducing new social media streams, and jumping headfirst into the mobile world. When she is not face-to-face with the computer screen, she loves to cook for her family, exercise, wrestle with the kids, explore craft cocktail bars, do nothing on the beach, travel to new places, and enjoy time with friends.

Brooke Duncan, III Partner Adams and Reese, LLP

Brooke Duncan joined Adams and Reese in 1992 and is a senior member of the Labor and Employment team. Hired to build the labor and employment practice of the

firm, Brooke helped it grow into the 30-plus lawyer team practicing in that area today. He also co-chairs the firm’s New Business Acceptance Committee and serves as one of the firm’s labor and employment lawyers for in-house matters.

Focusing his practice on labor and employment law, Duncan works exclusively on behalf of employers and has experience in union avoidance and union relations. He represents employers in many fields including universities, hospitals, trucking companies, shipyards, restaurants, convention and trade show contractors, manufacturers, insurance brokers, and nonprofit organizations.

Duncan recently authored and had published, “Best Practices for Dealing with Recent Employment Law Developments and Trends,” an employment law chapter in Aspatore: Inside the Minds, The Impact of Recent Regulatory Developments in Employment Law. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he gained practical business and management experience by running a factory that produced industrial fabric products. Brooke also served as a detective with the New Orleans Police Department, receiving several awards for outstanding duty.

Clancy DuBos Co-Owner Gambit Communications, Inc.

Clancy DuBos is the chairman and co-owner of Gambit Communications, Inc., and the political editor/columnist for Gambit weekly newspaper in New Orleans. He also is the on-

air political commentator for WWL-TV Channel 4's Eyewitness News, and a licensed attorney in Louisiana.

DuBos and his wife, Margo, have owned Gambit since 1991, and he has been an attorney since 1993. Prior to 1991, Clancy was the on-air political reporter and analyst for WDSU-TV (NBC) in New Orleans for nearly 10 years

(December 1981 - May 1991), then at WVUE-TV (Fox 8) through August 2007 before joining WWL-TV as the station's on-air political analyst.

DuBos now delivers his weekly "Clancy's Commentary" on WWL-TV every Tuesday during the station's 6 p.m. newscast. Clancy became Gambit's first and only political columnist in December 1981. He now works full-time at Gambit while maintaining a limited, part-time law practice. Gambit Communications Inc. publishes Gambit (circ. 40,000, Louisiana's largest weekly newspaper), the online "bestofneworleans.com" web site and the "Blog of New Orleans" news blog (www.blogofneworleans.com).

As a journalist, he has earned awards from the Press Club of New Orleans, the Louisiana Press Association, the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies and the Associated Press Association of Louisiana and Mississippi. He also has appeared on numerous network radio and television talk shows, including "Washington Week in Review," NPR, "The Today Show," "Dateline NBC" and many appearances on local radio talk shows. Clancy and Margo were honored in 2008 with the "A.I. Botnick Torch of Liberty Award," the highest honor bestowed by the South-Central Region of the Anti-Defamation League. Clancy was named UNO's "Homer Hitt Distinguished Alumnus of the Year" in 2003. In 2012, he was named one of "Ten Outstanding Persons" by Family Services of New Orleans and "Alumnus of the Year" by Holy Cross School.

Jeff McManus Director of Landscape Services University of Mississippi

Jeff McManus grows things. As the Director of Landscape Services at the University of Mississippi, he grows plants….he grows people….he grows ideas. He is a problem-

solver, understanding that doing more with less is a 21st century mandate.

After coming to the University in 2000, McManus took on the challenge of managing a multi-million dollar landscaping beautification implementation project. Faced with a demand for excellence and high productivity, and a stagnant budget, Jeff knew that growing the people was critical to growing the plants. Through that experience, Jeff developed his approach to managing resources and developing personnel – his

GROW-theory; a management and professional development approach based in the belief that all humans either strive for or have within them the elements of Greatness, Resiliency, Opportunity and Wisdom – they just need a fertile environment to GROW.

Taking his grounds staff, affectionately known as “weeders”, and developing them into “leaders” has been a joyous challenge that reaped acres of rewards in the form of national recognition by the Princeton Review, PGMS, Newsweek and every faculty, staff, student and visitor who has walked onto the Ole Miss Campus. Building on that momentum, Jeff has designed a professional development plan for his Weeders called Landscape University – a replicable training program that promotes the individual’s innate ability to GROW.

McManus holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture from Auburn University and is a PGMS Certified Grounds manager, and Certified Arborist. His message rings true for any industry leader or manager looking to GROW a high-performance and dedicated workforce. He has spoken at Caterpillar Inc, the Biltmore Estates, Leadercast, SRAPPA, Trent Lott Leadership Institute as well as the SEC Ole Miss Athletics. He has also worked with Memphis University, the University of Tennessee, the University of Georgia and private firms in developing their own training programs.
