Physical education is an inter disciplinary science involving fields related to

education, human behavior, sports and social sciences. Physical Education is an integral part of the educational structure and its programme provides suitable physical activities based on need , age, ability and aptitude of the participants. Eligibility

a) A Pass in the Plus two (+2) b) Proficiency in Sports

Durations of the programme Two Academic years, (July to April). The Examination conducted at the end of each year. Each working day consist of four hours of practical work and three hours of theory. Total 180 working days excluding the period of admission , examination etc., Part I THEORY

Ground work, apparatus work like parallel bars, vaulting horse, horizontal bar, Roman rings, Pummeled horse, Trampoline. the activities in gymnastics shall be taught for two years selecting a few activities in the first year and a few in the second year . the examination shall be conducted at the end of each year. 1. Minimum of 80 % attendance of each year. 2. Minimum marks of 50% in practical examination every year conducted by the

department of physical education. A candidates shall be declared to have passed in written examination if he / she obtains not less than 50 % in each of the papers. All other candidates who secured less than prescribed above shall be deemed to have failed in the written examination. The candidates who failed in any paper conducted in the first year shall appear for the written examination in the failed papers in the second year along with the written examination of the year he / she shall appear for the examination in the failed paper\ papers only when it is held next time. A candidates shall be declared to have passed practice teaching examination if he\she obtains not less than 50% in both the internal and external examination ``conducted by the department \ university

A candidate shall be declared to passed the practical examination if he\she obtains not less than 50% in the practical examination conducted by the department each year. CLASSIFICATON: For the award of the class the following percentage of mark should be secured by the candidates

50%and below 60% II Class 60%and above I Class. -----------------------------------

CERTIFICATE COURSE IN YOGA EDUCATION (C.Y.Ed)

The course is for a period of two years distribution of teaching hours.

There shall be 3 papers in all. There shall be a total number of 180 actual contact hours. Theory papers 2 shall have 75 hours each and practical 1 paper shall have 30 hours. Examinations

The examination shall comprise continuous internal assessment throughout the course period, followed by first year examinations in the month of April and second year examination also in the month of April of second year. A candidate who does not pass the examination in any subject(s) shall be permitted to appear in such subject in the next year examinations. For theory 25 marks internal and 75 marks external in each paper and for practical 15 marks internal and 35 marks external. Passing Minimum

A candidate shall be declared to have passed in each paper if he/she secures not less than 40% of the prescribed maximum marks for continuous internal assessment and the University Examination. He/she shall be declared to have passed the whole examination and qualified for the Certificate course if he/she passes in all three papers. Classification of successful candidates

Those who secure 60% and above of the maximum marks shall be declared to have passed First class. Those who secure 50% and above but below 60% shall be declared to have passed in Second Class. All others who secure 40% or above but less than 50% of marks shall be declared to have passed the examination in third class. Award of Certificate Course

A candidate shall be eligible for the award of the Certificate course if he/she has passed all the examinations prescribed there of.

The scheme of examination shall be as follows: There shall be 3 theory papers of

75 marks each and one practical of 50 marks each. The practical examination shall

consist of Teaching, Demonstration, and viva-voce examination.
