Regulatory Affairs Pharmacy Division, Vice President Dr. S. C. Mandal

Dr. Subhash C. Mandal completed his M. Pharm and Ph.D in Pharmacy degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and has contributed 12 Book chapters published by reputed publishers like-American Chemical Society (ACS), USA, Informa Healthcare, USA, Springer etc. He has to his credit 58 publications in different international journals. He has made more than 100 scientic presentations at different national and international conferences. Dr. Mandal started his career as a teacher and has experience in Industry and regulatory affairs. He is serving the Directorate of Drugs Control, Govt. of West Bengal for more than 25 years and presently as Assistant Director. Dr. Mandal has visited several countries including USA, China, Thailand, Bangladesh and has presented his research works in several conferences and workshops organized by WHO, DIA-USA, INRUD-USA, FIP etc. He has served in several important committees and taskforces formed by different Govt. and International agencies like-SEARPharm Forum, CDSCO, AYUSH, PvPI etc. Dr. Mandal is a member of Editorial Board and reviewer of several Journals of international repute. He is an examiner of several Universities. He has worked with a team for developing different documents like - "Inspectors' Manual for Inspection of Approved Laboratory" & "GMP Guidelines for ASU Drug Manufacturing" on behalf of Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India. Dr. Mandal is presently serving as one of the members of "National Working Group of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India".

Dr. Mandal is an active member of IPA for more than 35 years and has served the Bengal State Branch as Executive Member, Joint Secretary, Hony. Secretary, Vice President and presently as President for two consecutive terms besides being convenor of several national and international conferences. He is an instrumental gure in the Bengal Branch receiving "Best Branch Award" seven times including two hattricks and special recognition Award on two occasions. He served Central Executive Committee (CEC) as its Member for more than 18 years and is presently Vice President and Chairman, Regulatory Affairs Division (RAD). Dr. Mandal served the Regulatory Affairs Division (RAD) in several capacities like- Executive Member, Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman for last two terms and will continue for one more term. He is also serving Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) as an Expert member of Pharmaceutical Legislation, Regulatory Science and Pharmacopoeia section.

Dr. Mandal represented IPA at several forums like-"Workshop on The Role of Health Care Professionals in Achieving MDGs 4 & 5" sponsored by WHO, held during 22nd - 25th November 2008 at Dhaka, Bangladesh, and "Pledges to action: A partners' Forum on Women's & Children's Health" jointly organized by The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India held at New Delhi, India during 13-15th November 2010. Dr. Mandal is an active member of the Editorial Board of Pharmatimes for more than 25 years and has contributed several interesting articles including guest Editorials. He is the founder co- ordinator of Drug Information Centre (DIC) of IPA, Bengal Branch and is continuing till date. He started publishing a weekly -Drug Information Bulletin (Electronic) as the Editor for the last 11 years on behalf of IPA, Bengal Branch and it was converted into a fortnightly Bulletin and is being jointly published with RAD for the last four years , which is not only popular in India but throughout the world.

Dr. Mandal has served IPCA as one of its executive members during mid nineties and is continuing for the last 3 years in the same capacity. He was actively involved in organizing several IPCs in different capacities including Kolkata IPC in the year of 2004 as one of the Associate Secretaries. Dr. Mandal is also active in various reputed organizations like- FIP, DIA, ISPOR, IPS, SFE etc.

I.P.A. Fellowship Award has been conferred on him in the year of 1999 for his outstanding and dedicated service to the profession of Pharmacy.
