Stopping

• Full complete STOP at the sign or the thick, solid white line

• Stop before reaching any crosswalks• If your vision is blocked, move ahead slowly

and prepare to stop again.• Always make sure the roadway is clear before

driving into the intersection.

“4-way Stop” • Who ever stops first, goes first• When you stop to the right or left of another

car, the driver on the LEFT should YIELD the RIGHT OF WAY to the driver on the Right.

• When stopped across from another driver who is turning, the vehicle continuing straight has the RIGHT OF WAY

• Check traffic in all directions before entering the intersection, then move slowly forward.

YIELD

• Give the RIGHT OF WAY

• Stop or proceed with caution and prepare to stop

• Proceed only when it’s safe to do so.

Speed Limits• Basic Speed Law: the fastest you can drive in any

weather condition.• Minimum Speed Limit: Slowest you can drive

without obstructing traffic. Exception is when the weather is poor.

• Advisory Speed Limit: Maximum speed you should go for a specific condition or roadway. Ex. Curves or Exit Ramps

City/town 30mph

School Zone 20mph (7am-4pm)

Alley 15mph

• School Crossings are posted in the actual crosswalk areas.
