ALTERNATIVE HEALINGMany of you may be familiar with some

form of alternative healing. Alternative healing is offered to us in many ways. One form I’ve mastered is Reiki.

ENERGY MEDICINEAs both a Reiki practitioner and student

I’d like to share some information about the healing art of Reiki. Reiki is an energy medicine. It is a way to achieve healing at all levels:

Physical Mental Emotional Spiritual

REIKIReiki is a Japanese term for “spiritual

energy,” and the system of Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900’s. Rei means spiritual wisdom, and ki means energy. Reiki is safe for humans and animals.

WHAT REIKI ISWhat Reiki is: Gentle – the touch is soft and light, some

practitioners don’t even need to touch you. Harmless - Reiki can have only positive results. Natural- No equipment or tools are needed. Healing - the highest goal of Reiki. Balancing - Reiki will balance your energy

levels. Relaxing – if you’re very stressed you can get a

feeling of peaceful bliss. Energizing - If you feel drained Reiki can revive

you.

WHAT REIKI IS NOTWhat Reiki is not : Religious- Reiki is non denominational.

You can practice any religion, or none at all and still use and benefit from Reiki.

Massage or Reflexology- Reiki is an energy-healing system, not a manipulative system such as massage or reflexology.

THERE ARE SEVEN MAJOR CHAKRAS

Each chakra maintains a flow of energy between the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies.

When you are healthy energy flows smoothly along the chakras.

But if you do have an energy block, the chakra points do not receive the energy flow.

If this block is not cleared, disease of nearby organs can occur.

Reiki can open blocked chakras.

WHAT THE PRACTITIONER MAY USE

STEPS IN A REIKI SESSION

First, I start by smudging the client with sage.Then, I ask the client how they are feeling and if there are any health concerns or areas they would like me to concentrate on.Next, I play peaceful music in the room. At this point, I let the client know that they can talk, ask questions, or just relax during the treatment.Then I place crystals down on areas on the table and the person.After that I proceed to Reiki the client.

Usually I will Reiki both sides of a person.Finally, I end the session by using a singing bowl on their abdomen, which emits vibrations throughout the body.A Reiki treatment feels like a very relaxing massage, with no body manipulation.
