    POTICY:

    Republic

    Act

    8551, otherwise known

    as

    PNP

    Reform and Reorganization Act of

    1998,

    provides

    that

    in

    tfmes of national emergency, the BFP

    and

    Philippine National

    Police

    shall,

    upon

    the

    discretion

    of the

    President,

    assist the Armed

    Forces of

    the

    Philippines

    in

    meeting the national

    emergency,

    addition

    to the

    performance

    of

    their inherent

    funfiions

    as

    mandated by law.
