With a strangerHandout: SECRETS
A secret is something that is kept hidden from others.
Some secrets are good, like planning a friend’s surprise birthday party.
Some secrets are bad, like if a friend steals something from a shop and makes you promise not to tell.
If one person hurts or takes advantage of another, they may say things like,
‘Don’t tell anyone about this, it’s our little secret’
Or
‘Keep this a secret or I will hurt you’
This is wrong. If you feel uncomfortable, have been hurt or have been taken advantage of, it is IMPORTANT to tell an adult you trust STRAIGHT AWAY!

Emily has gone out for the evening with her friends to the local bowling alley.
Emily is thirsty, so pops to the café area on her own to buy herself a drink.
Her friends stay by the lane as they want to keep bowling.
While she is at the counter waiting to be served, a man approaches her and asks her how she is. Emily answers him. He then asks her name. Emily tells him. She thinks he is just being friendly.
Then the man asks Emily to go with him outside the building to the car park where he would like to show her something.
What should Emily do here? Discuss this with the group. You could use role play here.
