With heavy rain battering Gujarat in July 2017, floods wrecked havoc in the state, causing widespread damage, bringing lives and livelihoods to a standstill. Banaskantha district has been the worst-hit with the Banas River innundating most of the villages that lie along its banks. Hundreds of lives have been lost, while thousands have been displaced. Taking note of the grim situation, Smt. Nita Ambani led Reliance Foundation has been one of the first organizations to provide relief, rescue assistance and future rehabilitation.
