Becoming a Saint• Mary Magdalene de Pazzi became a saint because when she

was 12 she made a vow of virginity and took great joy in teaching Christian rules to poor children.

• When Mary Magdalene de Pazzi was 5 she loved going to church

• While Mary Magdalene de Pazzi wanted to be a nun Mary Magdalene de Pazzi’s father who didn’t know about her vow wanted to give her out for marriage but she convinced him to let her to become religious, and Mary Magdalene de Pazzi chose the Carmelites, because there the nuns who received Communion often

Feast Day • Mary Magdalene de Pazzi’s feast day is on the 25 of may in 1670.• the year after her canonization, the feast day of the saint was placed in the

General Roman Calendar for celebrating on May 25.• the day of her death (as today). In 1728, the date of 25 May was given

instead to Pope Gregory VII.• and the feast day of Saint Mary Magdalene de Pazzi was moved to 29 May,

where it stayed until 1969, when it was changed to its old place in the calendar.

• Mary Magdalene de Pazzi entered the school of the Discalced (bare footed) Carmelite nuns in Florence, so they can practice taking holy Communion almost every day, every day was being surveyed

• Mary Magdalene de Pazzi would go to Solitary Places so she could enter to prayer.

Beatification and canonization• Big miracles followed St Mary Magdalene de Pazzi’s death, and

the process for her beatification was beginning in the year 1610 under Pope Paul V, and completed under Pope Urban VIII in the year 1626. She was not, however, canonized until sixty-two years after her death, when Pope Clement X raised her to the altars on April 28, 1669. The church of the Monastery of Pažaislis, named in 1662, was one of the first to be consecrated in her honor.
