Remember Me by Anthony Dowson

Speak of me as you have always done.

Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made.

Do not let them wither or fade.

I'll be with you in the summer's sun.

And when the winter's chill has come.

I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.

I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.

I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,

but memories we've shared are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be a test,

but remember me, when I was at my best.

Although things may not be the same,

don't be afraid to use my name.

Let your sorrow last for just a while.

Comfort each other and try to smile.

I've lived a life filled with joy and fun.

Live on now, make me proud of what you'll become.

Obituary George Elliot Alston, son of the late Annie and Alton Alston, Sr. was born May 8, 1952 in Pittsboro, NC. He attended Horton High School from 1st through 12th grade. In his early years he attended Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church.

After graduation he went to work at Selig Furniture company making furniture. He remained there for 13 years until they went out of business. He then went to work at UNC Hospitals. There he worked in the Transportation Department and then later moved to Central Distribution. Everyone that met him, loved him. He was lovingly called “Pipe”. He had a unique laugh that can never be duplicated. He retired from UNC Hospitals.

In his early childhood he worked the farm and went hunting and fishing with his father. Those became his favorite past times. He learned to cook from his mother. He often brought venison and other dishes to work for his coworkers. He will also be remembered for the epic parties he threw for his friends and family. After retiring he lost his leg to diabetes, but he still had a great attitude. He quietly departed this life Thursday, August 22, 2019 at home in Pittsboro, NC, where he lived all his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Corene and Mary Elizabeth Alston.

He is survived by his son, Nicklaus Alston; twin daughters, Raven and Nicole Tillman; granddaughters, Nivia and Camryn Alston; sisters, Pauline Eaves, and Elnora Smith; brother, Alton Alston, Jr. (Mary) and a host of devoted nieces, great nieces, great-great niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
