December 2018
Here is some of our exciting news from the Christmas half term.
Remembrance Day
We helped to make poppies for the local display in the village.
We saw the display when we visited the village on our trip day.
Our Nativity
Well done to all our pupils
for a fantastic Nativity.
Interfaith Week
This year for Interfaith Week we learnt about Diwali.
Our theme was light. We took part in lots of activities to learn how
Diwali is celebrated.
All our work was used to make a sensory light experience on the
Friday. We wore glow in the dark t-shirts and explored the lights
and activities in the drama room.
Advent Mass
Our Advent mass focused on waiting and
preparing for Christmas. In response to the Gospel
reading we created a video showing Mary and
Joseph’s journey. Pupils and staff joined together to
help guide Mary and Joseph with lights and
remembered that Jesus is the light of the world.
After the video pupils from each class were invited to place
lanterns around the manger in the chapel and we sung This Little
Light of Mine. A big thank you to Fr. David for saying the mass.
Christmas art
Pupils have been busy practicing art skills by creating Christmas
work linked to our offsite visits. Pupils created donkey pictures after
we visited the donkey sanctuary and used their artwork to create
games.
Pupils also worked together to create a large crib display for the
Glen.
Visit to the Farm
We visited Brimham Rocks Adventure Farm to see the animals and
feed the ducks. We made bird feeders and brushed the pigs!
Visit to the Donkey sanctuary
We visited the donkey sanctuary as part of our nativity work.
Visit to Lotherton Hall
We visited the 12 days of Christmas at Lotherton Hall.
There was lots to see and do.
Horse Riding
Class 2 enjoyed attending the horse riding Christmas party.
They had a picnic lunch, played party games, watched a
magician and met Father Christmas.
A big thankyou to the RDA for inviting us.
