Geography Field Trip 29th-30th September

Jeans for Genes day Friday, 2nd October

Quiz Night :15th October.

We were absolutely delighted last week when Rita Jordan, a world- wide expert on Autism, spent the day with us. At the end of her visit, she congratulated us on the very positive atmosphere within the school and she commended the staff on the way they were all working collaboratively to ensure the individual needs of pupils were being met.

Rita will be returning to the school on January 25th to lead

our school INSET day.

A Huge Thank You Steve Watts, the uncle of one of our past pupils, came into school on Thursday and presented Hearts of Oak with a cheque for £12,000 from his Asbestos Company. In addition, his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Pointer, presented us with a number of cheques amounting to £1300 that they were given for their Golden Wedding Anniversary!

L4 have been working really hard to get their ‘smileys’ this week. They are on their way to earning a party for their kind behaviour and excel-lent work. The class really enjoyed doing experiments in science.

It has been another hard-working week for L2. Well done to Charlotte who is SO inde-pendent in every activity. Thumbs up to Saghar who has settled in brilliantly to her new class and thank you to Ojinika who has made her feel most welcome.

We would like to congratulate Lauren in L1, She has earned the most merits this week. Well done. Daniel has had the most improved behaviour this week and a special well done to Jennifer for her speaking to the whole group in PSHE.

In L5, Jonathon participated in the Downs Syndrome Dance Club and performed a Thai dance in front of dozens of onlookers. Lots of good feed-back has been heard from this. Brilliant!

L3 have been celebrating Jewish New Year by eating delicious honey cake. We would like to thank Max’s mum, who made it for us.

Friends together!

S5 enjoyed Thomas’s birthday party on Wednesday, with everyone enjoying the balloons and cake. S5 are working hard to reach their ASDAN goals in ICT. Music was a riotous success with every instrument in action.

In S1, Siobhan has been a really good friend to Karlena, making sure she gets to school and to lessons on time. Thank you Siobhan. Jermaine has remembered to ask for help this week. Brilliant, keep it up Jermaine.

In S8, we have set up a buddy system so we can look after and help each other. We have also had a lovely party, celebrating Haruka’s birth-day. Ashley and Elliot worked brilliantly all throughout the week.

In S6, Alistair did some fantastic work in his Maths this week, get-ting all his answers correct on a test. We have been using the lap-tops in lessons, which all have en-joyed. Natasha had a great day on Tuesday, enjoying all of her les-sons. We are reading scary books at the moment and will shortly begin writing our own scary story.

S3 had a visit from Barry Hansell, a warder at the Tower of London, who came to talk to the class about his job. Four of our class members were also lucky enough to take part in the cricket coaching camp at Arundel.

In S7, four of the class represented the school football team at Ruislip. The end result was 1 win and 1 loss.

The sixth form have started back at Barnet College, with a new teacher – Sarah Coyne. We’re also starting our Friday yoga sessions with Korinna and a group of students have begun their weekly work experience at Action for Kids. We desperately need work experience placements. Anybody willing to help us out (typically once a week for a few hours), please contact Malcolm at the school.

Thanks.

We are collecting inkjet / toner cartridges for the school. Every item is worth 10 Tesco vouchers towards items for our school. Please send in any old ones you have in a plastic bag to the office.

Thanks

Well done to the Under 16 Boys,

who started the foot-ball season on

Wednesday. Although we were beaten 6-1 by Chantry in the first match, we won 5-2 against Woodfield. Goal scorers were Ethan, Kieron and Sam.

Work experi-ence for Year

11’s will be happening throughout the year. Parents who can help with placements should contact Mrs. Ray through the school.

Arunndel Cricket Residential was attended by 11 OAk Lodge students. Students participated in

Cricket skill development sessions, a visit to Arundel Castle and took part in fitness development in the evening and morning. A great time was had by all.
