Renaissance Art
RenaissanceFrench word that means,“rebirth”
It is the time of great excitement and new discoveries in art, architecture, literature, explanation and the sciences.
Renaissance art was driven by the new notion of "Humanism“, a philosophy which had been the foundation for many of the achievements of pagan ancient Greece.
The Renaissance Period produced the four great masters
Donatello (1386-1466)-Italian painter and sculptor who introduced the weight shifting principle in his statutes.
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)-”The Italian Polymath. He’s a painter, musician, writer, engineer, inventor, stage designer and astronomer
Michelangelo (1475-1564)-in his lifetime he was also often called Il Divino ("the divine one"); Da Vinci’s threat and rival
Raphael (1483-1520)-was known as the Divine Raphael and painted frescoes in the Vatican
