In English “When I was four or five years old, my Dad got me a Michael Schumacher racing suit that fitted me and I used to run around the house making F1 noises! I was really obsessed with cars in general.”

Ferdinand’s father is Karl Von HABSBURG-LOTHRINGEN, the Archduke of Austria, Royal Prince of Hungary, Bohemia and Croatia.


In English “In school, when your name comes up in history class, there are some giggles obviously. But that’s the way it always was, it was the same for my father.”


In English “My parents were keen for me to go to university but I was so passionate about racing that I convinced them. Now, I’m living in the UK, close to my racing team, and I do it as a full time job now and I’m waiting for the day I’ll get my first pay check.”


In English “I’ve been surrounded by politicians and intellectuals but I don’t know, I took on as a racing car driver. I try to show as much respect and represent my family as well as I can but still making my mark in motorsport history as a pure racing driver.”

Last September, the crown prince suffered a big accident at Silverstone. Thankfully, without any major injury.


In English “It was just a pile-up and I was the one that took off. It was a funny feeling initially, you don’t really believe it’s happening, you close your eyes and you push the brakes as hard as you can. The wheels stop because you are in the air and the engine stalls. You hear ‘shhhhhhhhh’ all over the place… That’s a bit scary but for some reason, I thought I was playing video games and flying through the air. But when you hit the ground, you think ‘OK, this is real’.”

For his first full Eurocup season, the Austrian has had some ups and downs but he claimed his first podium in Monaco.


In English “Under the rain in Monaco, it was very difficult to overtake but I knew one corner where I could do it. I made a move on the first lap to take P2 and finished at the second place. Being on the podium in Monaco was incredible.”


In English “It was very important to prove my talent and to perform there. Everybody knows there is no advantage or disadvantage in Monaco because you can’t test there ahead. We all had zero experience.”
