BGS International Public School has been awarded “Experiential Learning Award ”India’s Top 50 Prestigious Jury Awards 2019 (Jury`s Choice Award) by EDUCATION TODAY in Mumbai.

On the 28th of August, I received the most awaited phone call. I was invited to witness the historic moment of Chandrayaan 2 landing on the

Moon along with our Honourable P.M. Sh. Narendra Modi. It was indeed once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Two students- one girl and

one boy were selected from each state on the basis of an online Space Quiz conducted by ISRO. I was the fortunate girl to be selected from

the state of Delhi.

We reached Bengaluru on 6th Sept. where we received a warm welcome from the ISRO staff. We all were excited about watching the

Chanrayaan 2 landing from ISRO Tracking Center with our honourable Prime Minister.

At about midnight on 7th Sept, we were taken to the ISRO center. Entering the ISRO center was a dream come true. I chose to sit in the

front row so as to be close to the main screen where all the landing data was being displayed.

All the scientists were very friendly and helpful. They answered all our queries with equal enthusiasm. After some time, the ISRO chief

Mr. K. Sivan, along with some other scientists, came to meet us. I was impressed by his kind gesture. Soon we came to know that our PM

had reached there.

My heart started hammering in my chest as the lander 'VIKRAM' inched towards the moon's surface. But unfortunately, the communication

was lost with the lander and it got diverted from its path. All the scientists were devastated and dejected due to the lost transmission with the

lander. Our PM came to the scientists and consoled them. He did his best to boost their morale. Then we were taken to the hall where

Honourable Prime Minister interacted with us. We also took a group photograph with him.

The main takeaway for us from this visit was to learn from our mistakes and never lose hope. The hard work and diligence of the scientists

was visible to all. I salute our scientists at ISRO for the vital role they play in the advancement and development of space science in India. It

is my dream to join the IAF and be a part of the crew of India's next ambitious mission GAGANYAAN.

BGSIPS, have always strived to conceptualise his words into actions. These words as the “Mool Mantra” I, as the

Principal, right from the inception of the school, have relentlessly worked to transform the future of our students.

Rapid change that occurs in technology have always been taken into consideration when we plan our teaching-

learning process. We have been successful in engaging the students in Active learning through educators who make

use of this technology in our classroom interactions. We follow a systematic way of actions, strategies and policies

that are aimed at improving the quality of teaching learning. But in this modern course of transaction of lessons, it is

made sure that traditions and values are never forgotten.

We firmly believe in the overall development of the students. Diversity that is clearly prevalent in the school is a

compelling aspect that enables overall development as well as value system in students. Our students represent all

the cross sections of the country and society. Ample focus is provided especially to students who are with us from

the underrepresented section of the society to help them to be a part of the mainstream.

We, at BGS strongly endorse that co-curricular activities are an integral part of educational system. Sports and

cultural activities are a regular part of our almanac. These activities enhance the self esteem, self confidence,

social co-operation and leadership skills in an individual. Physical education and fitness is a compulsory part of the

curriculum and our students have participated in various national sports events and have brought many accolades to

school.

Life skill development in students is another area that we focus upon. We train our students to be adaptive to

situations and adorn a positive approach that will enable them to tackle challenges of everyday life. Students are also

taught to be responsible and lead from forefront by entrusting them with school council memberships. Student

Council members are school leaders and student role models who guide and counsel their peers, helping to develop

positive behaviour and values.

In this whole course of deeds, our teachers play a vital role. They are the key element in reforming the students.

They are role models, nurturers and caregivers. The mentors follow five – key concepts of motivational theories-

Empowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest and Caring. By following this theory and training our students, we see

that they excel in various fields.

Above all these, I as the Principal believe in “the connect” we develop with each student. I believe in touching their

lives through this connect and carving them into good human beings .I have always adopted an “OPEN DOOR

POLICY” for students, faculty and parents. I firmly believe through communication and sharing our thoughts, I can

serve the needs of the people around me better. We at BGS believe in upholding the motto- Service to Mankind is

Service to God.
