1. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION.
- Need to have a clean / sound / open substrate.
- Remove existing coatings.
- Recommended: diamond grinding on horizontals / sand blasting on verticals + vacuum cleaning.

2. VAPOR BARRIER.
- Polyurea suffers from negative pressure in case of moisture / water entrapment in substrate and may result in severe blistering.
- Beware: certain primers that are compatible with wet / moist substrates do not provide a vapor barrier…
- Need to use specific products for such use.

2. PRIMER.
- Stadium flooring areas and stand areas are exposed to pedestrian traffic.
- Need to have a proper adhesion for polyurea onto substrate.
- Primers also must provide sufficient sealing of the substrate to avoid pinholes and defects in the polyurea coating.
- Key: respect maximum / minimum curing times between primer and polyurea spraying.

3. DETAILING.
- Details must be drawn, planned and executed properly.
- Refer to PDA’s CDP for specific drawings on how to execute details with polyurea.
- Polyurea needs to be anchored to substrate properly, specially at termination areas.
- Key detail: expansion joints!

3. POLYUREA SPRAYING.- Respect PDA’s CDP considerations as per minimum thickness to be applied (2 mm).- Refer to product’s TDS regarding application instructions, which may be different in case of pure, hybrid polyurea combinations.- Stadiums are large areas: will need a big enough spray unit (or some of them) to obtain good results. NOTE: some stadiums can only be done off-season so large areas may need to be coated in very short time periods.HI-TECH VIDEO: MARACANA STADIUM WITH BIG SPRAY UNITS

4. TOP-COATS.
- Polyurea must be protected for longevity and to prevent yellowing.
- Flooring areas must comply with ENV 12633:2003 (anti skid). Outdoor areas require Category 3.
- NOTE: anti skid can be tested on–site!
