Science and technology have helped us to discover new materials which enhance how we live within our environments.

Dekton can be externally installed in all weather conditions.

For decades, Cosentino has combined the best that nature can offer us with the very latest scientific technologies. Our unswerving commitment to R+D+i represents one of the pillars of Cosentino. We have shaken up the world of natural stone and work surfaces with Silestone. Now, we have once again combined nature and science in order to create Dekton. Dekton is a sophisticated blend of the raw materials used to produce the very latest in glass and porcelain as well as the highest quality quartz work surfaces.Dekton employs exclusive Sinterized Particle Technology (TSP), a high tech process which represents an accelerated version of the natural metamorphicchange that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years. The Dekton pressing process happens in a 25,000 tonne press, turning the stone sheet into a large-format ultra-compact sheet.

This time we are going through a very spe-cial and appealing project that we could

not miss in these pages. We are referring to the Krion façade of the

new French Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. This complex project has been developed by Butech,

a company which belongs to Porcelanosa Group in Castellón, in partnership with the local com-pany Boonthavorn, official retailer for the Spanish Group in Thailand.

When it comes to the technical complexity, Ja-vier Safont, responsible for the engineering of this

project, stands out “the difficulties of creating a structure to withstand a façade and a deck which go beyond the building itself, as well as its inte-gration into the waterproofing and the thermal insulation of the building”.

KRION LUXThis original building, designed by ADPI ar-

chitects in Paris, France, features a 3D façade whe-re the front side and and the deck show a cracked design, taking over the classic design where all lines compose right angles.

When the pure white of Krion is added, the result is a new architectural reference point in the Thai Capital.

Krion is also an essential element. This solid surface material, produced by System-Pool for faça-

de purposes, features an absolute white colour, an excellent resistance against environmental agents and a great versatility which allows designs that were impossible to achieve with other materials.

Big panels can be produced in any shape, cur-ves inclusive, and many different options of signs and lighting may be implemented.

EXPERIENCE MATTERSButech, the technical company of Porcelanosa

Group, has gained a wide experience during the last years of design, technical development and execution of ventilated façades, especially with porcelain tiles. Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Mo-rocco, Francia or Israel are just some examples of the countries where Butech has been working along the five continents.

There is an important investment on R&D behind all these projects in order to create diffe-rent systems which have passed the most deman-ding certifications for porcelain tiles (Porcelanosa Group) and solid surface (Krion).

A GREAT TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTThe success of this project is no coincidence

but a result of a great effort on technical develo-pment, supported by the most demanding French approvals and the experience that Butech has got around the world.

It is important to emphasize the confidence that France has placed in this Spanish technology to carry out such a big project.

This is easy to understand because of the re-putation that Butech has earned by executing the-se kind of jobs.

All of that, mixed the advanced properties and the aesthetics of Krion, converts any propo-sal into a safe bet. An analysis of this material is detailed next.

ARCHITECTURE

Krion is a new generation solid surface deve-loped by Systempool, a company that belongs to Porcelanosa Group.

It is a material that is warm to the touch and similar to natural stone. It is made of two- thirds natural minerals (ATH – aluminium trihydride) and a low percentage of high- resistance resins. This composition gives KrionTM a number of exclusive features: it does not have any pores, it is antibacterial without any type of additive, it is hardwearing, highly resistant and easy to repair, only requires minimum maintenance and is easy to clean.

DESIGNS AND PROJECTSIt is shaped in a similar way to wood, making

it possible to cut the sheets, connect them and thermoform them to create curved sections, and can even be injection moulded to create designs

and projects that are impossible with other mate-rials. Seamless sections can be created, preventing liquids from being absorbed and making cleaning and maintenance easier.

We offer a wide range of colours, including a white finish that stands out for its purity and eu-trality in comparison with other similar materials. It is an ecological material, as it is 100% recyclable.

All products made of KrionTM can be reprocessed and reused in the production cycle. This amazing ventilated facade by Butech for the new embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, has been a great succes._

ThyssenKrupp Elevator has sold more than 7,000 units of passenger transportation equipment, and services over 2,600 units related to metro and rail infrastructure projects across the Asia Pacific region

THE WAVE OF THE ASIAN METRO AND RAIL BOOM

SUSTAINABLE EFFICIENCY

» ‘The City of Arts and Science’s . Valencia, Spain. Santiago Calatrava.

To date, ThyssenKrupp Elevator has sold more

than 7,000 units of passenger transportation equipment, and services over 2,600 units related to metro and rail infrastructure projects across the Asia Pacific region. The company is poised for continued growth in tandem with the area’s boom in building metro and railway lines.

In the last decade, the cons-truction of metro systems and rail networks in the Asia Pacific region has kept pace with the area’s unpre-cedented urbanization. With China leading the way, public rail trans-portation across Asia is rising to world-class standards as countries including Korea, Thailand and India

SUSTAINABLE EFFICIENCY

focus on investing in their cities’ in-frastructure.

ThyssenKrupp is seizing this momentum and has been on a fast track of expanding its business in this thriving market segment. To date, the company has sold more than 7,000 units of passenger trans-portation equipment, including ele-vators, escalators, and moving walks, to metro and railway projects across more than 21 Asian cities. Thys-senKrupp Elevator branches are also servicing over 2,600 units installed in metro and railway systems in the area.

“With mega as well as me-dium-sized cities across the Asia Pacific region vying to construct rail systems and alleviate their ci-ties’ traffic congestion, we expect continued growth in this dynamic market segment,” said Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG.

Since elevator and escalator access to train platforms is now in-dispensable for providing commuter

convenience, ThyssenKrupp has suc-cessfully captured a substantial sha-re of this rail transit market segment. The company is able to provide the safest and most reliable solutions and services designed for rail sys-tems, as illustrated by its 65 escala-tors in stations of Beijing Metro Line 15 operating at an amazing 99.99 per-cent availability rate in 2013.

URBANIZATION: FUTURE GROWTHBy 2050, urban populations will

account for nearly 70% of the global total, meaning that there will be a 2.5 billion increase in the number of city inhabitants, with the vast majority of growth expected in Africa, South America, and Asia. As the move to cities increases at this rapid pace, efficient urban planning and infras-tructure development are key factors in ensuring successful urbanization. Leading global companies like Thys-senKrupp are investing in the de-velopment of new technologies to contribute to the elevation of urban mobility to new levels._

Rastelli brand has two of the best architects in the world, Ferruccio Laviani and Karim Rashid, for creating an interesting, beautiful and elegant proposal

‘RASTELLI CUCINE’ DESIGN, QUALITY AND GREEN

KITCHEN & BATH

Rastelli brand is born in 2014 from the will of Mr.

Renzo Rastelli, that aims to pene-trate not only the Italian market but also the worldwide business. The idea of internationalization encourages the company to get in touch with two of the best desig-ners in the world: the Italian Fe-rruccio Laviani and Karim Rashid, in order to create a product with a versatile approach and continually evolving to ref lect the Italian de-sign and a wider ranging program. The development doesn’t stop on the aesthetic aspect, but studies in deep the themes of the ergonomic and environmental compatibility.

The company wants to be iden-tified also through its green trade-marks because certified according to the strictest FSC and ISO 14001 standards. From an ergonomics point of view, Rastelli approaches the market offering the widest ca-binetry range in terms of quantity and quality, choosing as standard, ingenious well-designed storage solutions being able to count on di-mensions that can meet the Ameri-can standards.

A GREAT DESIGNThere are three words that

can summarize the company’s mis-sion: design, quality and green. The management’s daily goal is to offer kitchens to an international and so-phisticated public that besides loo-king for the Italian design also pays attention to technology and quality, providing a quality service in an effi-cient, effective and timely manner, having the customer at the center of the project.

‘KOOK’ BY KARIM RASHID“I take a minimalist approach

in my kitchens, preferring to crea-te a clean striking surface that is punctuated by splashes of strong color. For the Kook kitchen I wan-ted to create an innovative design to turn even the most challenging cu-linary endeavors into pure aesthe-tic pleasure”. The cabinets open to

give expansive views of all that is to offer and then shut when the meal is done making a minimal and unclut-tered kitchen. Rolling shutters reveal LED edged shelves and built-in hood above the hob. Utilizing the angled cabinet, larger items can be stored at the top while smaller, more readily used items on the bottom making cooking a breeze.

AESTHETIC MINIMALISMThe pressure opened bottom

cabinets are accented with colored LED strips and angled to allow an easy approach to the work surface. Kook also features a sink that can be hidden using a matching cutting board to make a continuous surface. The use of solid Corian on frameless doors gives life to a combination of technicality, solidity and aesthetic minimalism.

The interpretation of Rastelli to the evolving consumer needs which demands quality and design but also aware of the value of what they are buying. R1 is a complete program that does not renounce to quality and design features which distin-guish Rastelli, it’s able to offer a product that makes value for money one of its strengths. The 22 mm thick

door is available in 8 different materials: low pressure laminate (LPL) in wood finish, laminate with laser edging, polymeric, matt lacquer, glossy single-sided lacquer, oak veneer, glass and ceramics. The vertical and horizontal alumi-num profiles contribu-te to give a minimalist look to this kitchen, offering an alterna-tive opening system to the doors instead of using the normal handles, available as an option anyway. The wall system collection completes the image of this model in a so-ber and contemporary way, overcoming the kitchen area and offering the possibility to deve-lop other complete interiors by crea-ting an aesthetic balance between authenticity and sophistication.

‘BELUGA’, BY FERRUCCIO LAVIANIThe company presents ‘Beluga’,

by Ferruccio Laviani “This is a so-

lid project, well defined but cons-tantly evolving. I don’t want this project to end only through images or certain compositions: I would like this project to be an introduc-tion, a starting point”.

On the other hand, Royale is the answer to a constituent key for the new dynamics of the daily living:

the contemporary rhythms together with the dynamic requirements of the present time, inf luence the en-vironment where we live and Royale makes nothing but perfectly inter-pret these new requirements and rewrite the rules of kitchen space: from a piece of furniture to a pure kitchen ambience._

We are interested to know the amazing and innova-

tive Jellyfish House Located in Mar-bella, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, the Jellyfish House’s neighbo-ring buildings block its view onto the nearby sea.

Appropriately, it was chosen to cantilever the house’s pool from its roof, so that the beach and sea can always be seen while sunbathing or swimming.

The house is organized around two paths of circulation: a ‘fast’ and ‘slow’ set of stairs, which intertwine and traverse the house’s four levels of living. The ‘fast’ stair leads from the exterior directly to the roof; it is

enclosed in glass, which physically separates it from the house’s inte-rior, yet it is simultaneously open to the exterior elements, so that sand is not brought into the house when returning from the beach.

The ‘slow’ stair–whose long treads and short risers lend it its name–spans the entire length of the house, from ground f loor main-entry to roof; it is indoors yet also open to the exterior elements, further ampli-fying the house’s capacity for ‘inte-riority’. The house’s rooftop pool is cantilevered 9 m southwest (toward the Sierra Blanca mountain range in the distance)–and weighs nearly 60,000 kg.

In addition, it is equipped with an infinity-edge, its water merges with the sea in the distan-ce.

PANORAMIC WINDOWThis pool has a glass-bottom

f loor and a panoramic window at its interior facing edge, both of which are 6 cm thick; the latter allows those in the kitchen to vo-yeuristically view those swimming, while a third window affords those in the kitchen a glimpse of the li-ving room, whose terrace extends under the cantilevered pool.

The searing Spanish sun cons-tantly filters through the pool’s glass wall and f loor, creating ripples of iridescent turquoise ref lections throughout the entire house. As such, the pool can be seen and experienced from nearly all areas of the house.

Integrated within the pool is an underwater bench, which tra-ces its length and also integrates a pool cover, so that it is out of sight when the pool is in use.

Five bedrooms are located throughout the house, with two guest bedrooms situated on the ba-sement level that face outward onto an extensive private terrace for the exclusive use of guests.

‘SLOW’ STAIRAs the ‘slow’ stair leads from the

main entry to the guest bedrooms below, this area of the house is able to function as a separate entity. The kitchen is strung along the southern façade of the house’s first f loor, with all secondary appliances built-into an adjacent and perpendicular ha-llway. The first f loor is also the lo-cation of the sauna and steam bath.

A small service elevator also allows, for instance, food and drink to be brought from the kitchen, or any other f loor, up to the rooftop pool and terrace. This roof terrace features an oversized and custom-designed concrete table with an ad-joining bench, which is contiguous to an angular chair for reclining whi-le sunbathing.

The house’s structure is com-posed of poured in place white-concrete, supported by one column at the right-rear edge of its pool, and several smaller columns near the rear-dining terrace. All non-concrete walls were constructed with glazing, which allows sunlight to permeate the house. Multiple bedroom closets, whose obverse face the ground f loor hallway, are finished in translucent glazing to compound this sunlight diffusing strategy.

Cersaie 2014 is presenting these days some of the most

amazing novelities in the world of ce-ramics and bathroom. In this regard about 90 Spanish manufacturers of ceramic f loor tiles and exposed at Cersaie their new collections inspi-red by the latest trends in decoration and interior.

So, it is noted that through the application of new technologies, the Spanish ceramic reinvents itself every season and is able to crea-te a unique style, with details that make each tile something personal and unique details that can be seen these days in the prestigious Hall of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom facilities Bologna.

THE INSPIRATION The collections of Spanish cera-

mic manufacturers explore lines that reach all parts of the house, both indoors and outdoors. The designers of different brands found inspira-tion. The love of classical pieces not

lose strength, rather grows, like patchwork ceramic compo-

sitions, increasingly soph i st icated.

Ceramic reinvents itself betting at “vintage” formats, fusions, thin reliefs, degrades and mosaics with mirroreffects for the Cersaie challenge, among other new proposals

They get degraded ceramic must be one of the next year. Ceramic for-mats have long added to the square and rectangle, hexagon pieces. We must not lose sight of them because they give a lot of play. Reliefs, win-ning in creativity in the placement process are maintained. And, to top it, some parts very, very bright.

THE STYLES So, to keep up on walls and

ceramic f looring from Ascer comes an interesting summary of some the styles ‘trendies’ we are already seeing in the reforms and interior design projects around the world love the style statement ‘vintage’ with a return to the classic formats, the ceramic mixture in search for new solutions, gradients, subtle re-liefs, the predominance of hexagons in many proposals and even ceramic tiles with mirror, etc.

RAFAEL MONEO In addition, another key aspect

of this event is the presence of the architect Rafael Moneo, (September 25, at 11.00 in the Europauditorium). The Spanish architect, Pritzker Pri-

Moreover, the meetings with internationally renowned architects also provides appointments with young designers such as French designer Ora-Ito and Scandinavian Andreas G. Gjertsen and Yashar Hanstad, the Studio TYIN Tegnes-tue with masters of design, Riccardo Dalisi and-winning architects Antón García-Abril and Ensamble studio, as well as a tribute to the architect Paolo Soleri Acrosanti creator, who died recently. In addition, the event will also feature the architects Car-la Juaçaba, Izaskun Chinchilla and Sarah Robinson, professionals with very different backgrounds, who will participate in a discussion mode-

rated by American architect Michael P. Johnson,

GRECO GRES: NEW PIECES WITH RELIEF

Frontek expands its range of solutions for facade cladding with high-tech ceramics with the launch of new pieces with relief. An attractive

alternative that enhances the beauty of the facade with the quality and dura-bility of ceramic art technology.

Frontek is a very lightweight piece of extruded porcelain that offers exce-llent technical qualities for cladding: high hardness, high strength, low water absorption, good performance against climatic and environmental agents, etc. A product that stands out for its very light weight, only 25.24 kg/m2. As for its reaction to fire it is classified as A1 (no testing required according to Decision 96/603/EEC).

The water absorption is less than or equal to 0.5 %, the tensile strength is ≥ 1.100 N and the bending strength is ≥ 35 N/mm2 ( in the strongest direc-tion), according to the UNE EN 14411standard.

AN EXCEPCIONAL PIECEIt is an exceptional piece for ventilated facade that does not require any

cutting or drilling to be fixed to the metallic structure. Its design with the self-ventilated double wall and the longitudinal grooves makes it compatible with any anchoring system on the market. Thus any weakening is avoided that other tiles, which require cuts or holes for fixation, are suffering.

It also offers an attractive alternative to ensure quick and easy installa-tion in the traditional cladding system. A solution compatible with any fixing element on the market.

The process can be carried out with resins or using mechanical fasteners to secure adherence.

The collection is available in various sizes and colors in different finishes including now the new pieces with relief. Greco Gres has a design department that can customize tiles tailored to each client.

The Frontek top is a solution particularly suitable for structures that jut out of the plane of the facade, using exclusive extruded ceramic pieces adap-ted to each project._

FRONTEK VOLUMEN URANO

can more comfortably discover the products by the Group’s firms, like the new ceramic parquet and simulated hydraulic Porcelanosa tiles.

With a striking zig-zag design, the stand will have a Krion® ventilated facade, perfectly representing the technical qualities and versatility of this new generation compact mineral developed by Porcelanosa Group. The cera-mic materials of Porcelanosa and Venis, and the XLight collection by Urbatek will also feature pro-minently in the space’s surroun-dings.

Additionally, L’Antic Colo-nial has collaborated with Ra-món Esteve for this edition of the trade fair, putting him in charge of designing a space where his new bathroom accessories and the natural materials of the firm are featured. Furthermore, as in previous years, Butech will have an exclusive stand in the area dedicated to the materials and specific tools for the installation and display of ceramic products, which can be visited in Area 45 Stand 41._

GRESPANIA PRESENTS ITS NOVELTIES AT FAIR

Grespania Technical Solutions position Grespania in today’s deman-ding architecture sector. We have created an independent section of

solutions specifically dedicated to our most unique products, their technical qualities, and architectural applications.

The working philosophy that defines Grespania Technical Solutions can be summed up by two key factors: sustainability and innovation.

H&CTILESH&C Tiles is the ceramic application using Hydrotect® technology, in

which a titanium dioxide coating reduces pollution and provides ceramics with self-cleaning, antibacterial and odour removal properties.

The exposure of titanium dioxide to ultraviolet radiation produces a photo-catalytic reaction that generates active oxygen and breaks down dirt into smaller and less adhesive particles. Due to the hydrophilic properties of H&C Tiles , water spreads over the surface uniformly, thereby facilitating drag and the removal of dirt particles. The applied product becomes an integral part of the same ceramic material, providing a lasting effect over time that is self-regenerating, all without.

PORCELAIN 20MM THICK FOR EXTERIORSThe new porcelain stoneware from Grespania reproduces a selection of

architectural materials such as concrete and stone with a thickness of 20 mm. Along with the excellent technical qualities of the porcelain, the 20 mm thic-kness gives a higher breaking strength and a natural look that makes this high quality series suitable for all types of external applications. Ideal for outdoor areas, both private and public, which require high levels of technical and mechanical work. Its high breaking strength makes this an ideal material for exterior raised paving, facilitating drainage in case of rain and easing access to wiring, pipes or other utilities. Its increased thickness and weight make the material suitable for laying outdoors without the use of bonding materials.

CIFRE: NEW FORMATS AND NATURAL TEXTURES

New designs and formats for new markets will be the highlights of the novelties that Cifre Cerámica will be showing in Cersaie 2014, the exhibition that will be held in Bologna at the end of September.

The company from Onda is launching new formats (25x80 cm, 75x75 com and 10x30 cm), especially designed for clients from Eastern European coun-tries, a growing market for the company.

These new formats are now part of the catalogue, together with the lar-ge pieces that the company launched in Cersaie 2013: 45x90 cm, 90x90 cm,

It can simply be layed directly and remain secure without moving on grass, gravel or sand beds. As no use of bonding materials is required, it can be fixed quickly, and also easily moved to a new position to be reused in other areas.

COVERLAM 3.5 / 5.6 MMPushing the limits of size and thickness imposed by ceramics is now pos-

sible. Coverlam, the new surface for architecture. Grespania completes the Coverlam range with a new 5.6 mm thickness with a polished finish, which is a highly decorative option and ideal for unlimited applications. Coverlam can be complemented with paving of conventional thickness to give more versatility to all types of projects.

NEXO PORCELAIN TILES– FULL BODY The Nexo Series is a full body technical porcelain range in which texture

and versatility take centre stage. The Nexo Series’ attributes mean it can adapt perfectly to all kinds of architectural projects ranging from public spaces to residential projects thanks to its’ three finishes, six colours, multiformat con-cept and wide range of decors._

CAUCASO

120x60 cm or 120x20 cm, among others. The new collections keep natural textures and clear, pastel colours.

Wall and f loor tiles representing wood, stone, marble or cement now include new designs based on metals.

The tiles that reproduce traditional ceramics in colours, shapes and pat-terns, also become more important in this new catalogue.

The novelties of Cifre Cerámica for 2015 also include wall tiles with subtle and elegant patterns, perfects for the new times._

INTERMATEX GROUP IMPRESSES WITH ITS SELECTION

Intermatex Group goes to Cersaie with an interesting double proposal. Company introduces, one way, new ranges, and, on the other side, all novel-ties the Group includes within the new brand Essentia.

This way, those who will attend the Italian show will be able to enjoy of: ‘Dolphin’, a new mosaic concept that brings a bit of fresh air for the most popular and extend chip size; ‘Mojave’, similar to the successful ‘quartz’ but in a more natural and muretto looking, and finally, Florida’, a way to deepen in the interlocking concept, in a chip size that the company has a limited

selection. These ranges are the result of the successful feedback company had in the Coverings 2014 show, and the adaptation to other markets they made after the show with more global com-bination of colours.

NEW ITEMS IN ESSENTIA

Company has selected raw materials used in the best ranges and has used them to develop a new split-face and no joints concept.

So, visitors like very much ‘Matrix’, design with real mother of pearl; ‘City’, modern and with quartzstone; ‘Cubik’, more natural looking and with bigger proportion of matt stone; and ‘Domino’.

With regards this last range it comes from a totally new idea with a very attractive combination of different colors of polished marbles.

Intermatex keeps on growing constantly, and as a last step of the expan-

sion of the facilities (that were finished initially in 2013), they are working on a new loading area. It means bigger area that will improve management of warehouse and loadings._

DOLPHIN TERRA

NEOLITH BY THESIZE: INNOVATION & DESIGN

For the second consecutive year, TheSize will attend Cersaie (Bologna) -the world’s largest international show in the Bathroom and Ceramic

industry- strongly betting on this event to present the last product launches and different applications of its Neolith product. The new architectural ma-terial that stands out for its design, durability, versatility and sustainability.

NEOLITH APPLICATIONSThe design of the stand will therefore feature different atmospheres:

Two bathroom spaces, one made entirely with the Estatuario model from Classtone (the Neolith marble collection); and a second bath application made with Timber Oak (Timber collection) and Arctic White (Colorfeel collection) that will include a great novelty in shower tray. Two very different styles of bathroom; one representing the innate elegance and class of marble, whereas the other one contrasts with a functional design inspired in the warmth con-ferred by a rustic material such as wood.

On the other hand, a Neolith kitchen atmosphere will also be exhibited with a spectacular countertop made of Pulpis (Classtone collection) in the new Polished finish. Thanks to the extraordinary strength and durability pro-perties of Neolith, exquisite and delicate marble designs can be considered for kitchen countertops applications without compromising the integrity & durability of the material. Neolith, the Sintered Compact Surface, combines technology & cutting edge design, offering maximum warranty of resistance.

Furhtermore, the 3 Neolith façade systems will be exhibited: HC, VM and Strong Fix; given that Neolith is lightweight, UV resistant and easy to handle and thus becoming the ideal material for this type of application.

Also, part of the decoration of the stand will comprise furniture made of Neolith. In this case, two square tables made of Nero and Iron Corten models, another clear example of how Neolith can also be integrated as a decoration item in any indoors space.

It is also worth highlighting that the models selected for the f looring of the stand will be the Arena and Basalt Black (Fusion collection) presented in the new format of 1,500 x 1,500 mm, which result spectacular given its

large dimensions. This new tile for-mat contributes to the aesthetics and hygienic characte-ristics as it leads to fewer joints and thus making any given space have a sleek, seamless appearance.

LAUNCHESAmongst all product launches, there will be new models in 3,200 x 1,500

mm format and in 6 and 12 mm thickness, which will be presented as pieces of art within an exhibition.

In total, 8 full slabs with different designs, tonalities and finishes: Arctic White in Silk finish, Textil Black, Timber Ice, Iron Blue, Beton and Nero Zim-babwe in Riverwashed finish, and Travertino Clásico, and Calacatta models will be presented in the new finish, Polished.

Probably, the star of the new product launches will be the Onyx model, which can be backlit. A breathtaking material made with translucent clays that achieve the backlit technique, and thus adding transparency looks for the decoration of commercial and residential spaces (bars bar, bedroom head-boards, etc.).

Regarding Neolith finishes, to the existing Satin finish, Polished, Ri-verwashed and Silk options will be added. These will be presented as a panel with several samples to appreciate the different textures that Neolith can acquire.

In this way, the Neolith booth by TheSize for Cersaie, will become a de-tailed exhibition of the many possibilities that Neolith can offer in terms of applications and styles, thanks to the design and versatility of this innovative architectural material._ Hall 25, Stand A242.

plistic and beautifully traditional lines form the basis for this striking ceramic collection.

‘MOOD’, A GREAT STYLEThe collection has been reinterpreted in colours and materials but maintai-ning its unchanged taste and elegance. The fusion of Krion® and wood ve-

neer wants to be a tribute to the series by exalting its extraordinary design features.

‘Mood’ Fusion boosts a strong, suggestive and bold personality and se-duces with the unexpected balance of materials. Realized with exclusive wor-king methods and machineries, melting together noble materials and new ge-neration solid surface, creating timeless style. The oak wood veneer contours the silhouette of ‘Mood’ contrasting the purity of white Krion®._

Here the company shows its new range of digital printing and expanding its modeling a wide range of attractive de-signs incorporated into the line Techlam® large format porcelain tile. This fair is a global window display for professionals like architects, interior designers, building companies and big building societies from all over the world.

Their stand is placed at Hall 26, next to the main Spanish brands of the sector. The business director of Techlam®, Javier Guardiola, says that “this is a con-

test that allows us, by one hand, to reinforce our commercial relationships with the brand customers, and in the other hand, to arrive to the new customers.

In previous editions we got an average of 20% new customers, what makes this appointment obligatory for us as a part of the international calendar”.

BIG INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

With a 100% Spanish production, 80% of it is exported, principally to South America and Europe. A porcelain material that has been used in big international projects such as the Green House Building in Budapest, the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo or the underground station Waterloo, in London.

In Spain, Techlam® has been used in projects like the Botin Foundation, of

Santander Group, in some hotels from Melia or NH companies, or in hospitals like Maternal and Child Hospital La Arrixaca, in Murcia, among others._

Anjasora has delighted audiences with their news. In this regard, the company has come to the fair with large format tiles (anjasoratile), natural stone to dress your spaces (theStones), the most exquisite mosaics (theMosaic) and, of course, natural stone and light more f lexible market (Flextone), as they say from the firm, are some of the keys to its success. And, once again, shows that the company is a reference to rehabilitation.

‘BOTTA CRIPTA’, AN AMAZING RENOVATION IN BERGAMO

Page 37: Renovation Today nº 8 September 2014

The project of the renovation of the crypt is part of a bi-

gger project for the church of Sacro Cuore e S. Egidio Abate in Sotto il Monte (Bergamo). The project inclu-ded the renovation of the church’s nave (f loor and presbytery) and the external parts (walls, roof and the new belfry). This church was built in the 1930 but the originally project was never completed.

The original project included the construction of the church ves-try in the west side of the altar. The project was never completed , but the need to connect the interior of the church with the underground crypt led to the creation of a link

that appeared inconsistent with the architecture system, with spatial and functional limitations. The pro-ject of the new link has been created with the dual purpose of restoring balance and continuity to the west elevation of the church and give the right importance to the stairs con-necting the crypt and the nave, using natural light as the main element of the space.

The use of curvilinear forms has allowed us to circumvent the restric-ted size, without the perception of the corners. The large window leads a lot of light in the space and, thanks to white walls, spreads widening per-ception until the crypt level.

The work in the Crypt concer-ned in the first place the reorganiza-tion of the perimeter walls from the damp. Also in this space has given much attention to light, in particu-lar the relationship between natural light and artificial light.

ARTIFICIAL LIGTH Artificial light has been specia-

lly designed to create a light insta-llation consisting of two rings of six

meters in diameter. This installa-tion wants to understand and

is a great work done by the architect Gianluca Gelmini in collaboration with Andrea Andrea Mazzucotelli Pressiani. The project of the crypt has been conducted in an area of 120 mq. In addition, furniture and lights of crypt project have been designed by Arch. Gianluca Gelmini._

RENOVATION

This time, we present to you a amazing project of Adrian

Amore: Loft Apartment, West Me-lbourne, Australia. In this project innovation through breaking down conventional approaches to spatial planning in domestic architecture. Poetics of form standing equally as important as function, both working symbiotically.

Walls sinuously move and bend through this loft apartment interior housed in a former butter factory, in West Melbourne. A sculptural stair sits at the converging point in the space, twisting, and soaring up towards a recreational roof terrace

which overlooks the city of Melbour-ne. A monochrome palate of white on white with charcoal and black, plays with the abundant natural light which is drawn in from the large nor-th facing windows and ceiling void.

A LOT OF FUNCTIONS An essentially open ground

f loor plan is defined by bending, wrapping walls which contain a ba-throom, laundry and storage spaces. Sliding doors further create the op-portunity for expanding or contai-ning, depending on how the ground f loor is used, whether it be as a stu-dio, bedroom or for entertaining._
