ABOUT USVietnamese Professionals in the UK (Vietpro) was founded in January 2010 with the mission to become the hub for professional networking, skill building and promoting the community of Vietnamese professionals, students and people with interest in Vietnam.

Our members include more than 800 professionals and 10 University Vietnamese Societies. Together with our partners such as SVUK we have close link to over 9,000 students in the UK. With an increasing number of talented Vietnamese who graduate from UK universities and subsequently work in various professions both in the UK and Vietnam, Vietpro is a fast-growing, dynamic community that is diverse and ambitious.

Over four years of operation, VietPro has become a familiar name with the Vietnamese community in the UK. We are the first point of contact for many students seeking career advice and mentoring support. VietPro’s regular events have become trusted brands, attracting top businesses including Premier Oil, McKinsey, HSBC, Vietnam Airlines and the like.

2013 has witnessed a steady growth in VietPro’s strength, and the committee is working hard to make sure that 2014 will be another successful year. Join us as a member and/or one of our partners!

Student Investment Challenge IISIC was created in 2010 to help students enhance awareness of current affairs, team work, stock market analysis and sharpen their stock picking skills. With the help of our partner - VietSoc at Cass Business School, SIC has become the largest and fiercest trading competition for Vietnamese community in the UK.

In 2013 SIC II attracted a total of 52 teams for round 1, where performance is judged on each team’s investment return in FTSE100 listed stocks over 10 weeks, as well as the quality of their trading report submitted at the end of the round. 5 best teams were then selected to compete in the final round in February 2013 which consisted of 3 rounds: Quick Questions, Mini Case Study and Asset Allocation Debate to decide the winner. The winner, team City, won the top prize of £1,500.

In 2014, there have been 52 teams competing for top places in the final round of SIC III

Hanoi-Spirit of Place Copenhagen-London-HanoiMay, June & October

Sir John Ramsden was in Vietnam from 1980-83, before the changes which have transformed the country’s economy and opened it to the world. He took over 1700 photos which document the period. Dat Pham, the President of Vietpro in 2012, felt that the photos ought to be seen in both London and Hanoi as a window on a period that is fast receding and a small way to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Vietpro joined forces with KREU, a group of Vietnamese designers and architects who study and work in London, to realise the project. The aim was to attract interest and stimulate a dialogue around the photos. Moreover, Vietpro hoped that this project would help to preserve the memory of an important period. It is a small tribute to the resilience and adaptability of the people at a difficult time; and to the enduring strength and beauty of the Vietnamese way of life.

Exhibitions were held in Copenhagen in the Vietnam Culture Day in May, at Hoxton Arches Gallery and Vietnam Open Festival in May and June. The exhibition in Vietnam in October received huge appraisal from the press and people in Hanoi. John Ramsden was awarded with the very much respected “Bui Xuan Phai” award for his photographs.

This event also expanded Vietpro’s name and footstep in Vietnam.

These events foster our professional network and help our members to meet new people and get to know each other better.

Thanks to 2012 Vietnam Summer Festival massive success, Vietpro was offered to assist VCAS to organise Vietnam Open Festival in June 2013. Vietpro contributed to recruitment and training of all volunteers who helped to run the 2 day event smoothly.
