• VP-Pubs added two new members to the PESS:– Elaine Oran– Karl Bilimoria

• Current subcommittee charter does not fully reflect the present activities of the subcommittee– Action: Charter will be updated and submitted for approval

to the Pubs Comm.

• Discussed AIAA Bylaw changes to be approved by the BOD

• Discussed the new AIAA Ethics Committee

• Recent case:– The plaintiffs in the recent conflict of interest case

involving an AE and a reviewer have requested that the case be re-opened

– The PESS decided not to re-open the case

• New case:– AIAA staff discovered potential copyright infringement and

self-plagiarism of articles that had been published in an AIAA journal

– We have found significant AIAA copyrighted material was published in a recent edited book published by Springer

– We are working with the AIAA attorney in parallel
