Introduction:-

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, India which is sponsored by the Ministry of

Commerce & Industry has main goal to increase the export of business of diamond, gemstone &

jewellery industry around the world. In this continuation, The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion

Council organized the 6th India International Gemstone Week (BSM) in Jaipur from 11th – 13th April,

2019 at Hotel Le-Meridian, Kukas, Jaipur.

This event was inaugurated by Mr. Pramod Kumar Agrawal, Chairman of GJEPC, besides Mr. Nirmal

Bardia - Regional President, Mr. Vijay Kedia - Co-Convenor, Colored Gemstones, Mr. Sabyasachi Rai

- Executive Director, International Buyers and the presence of Indian Exhibitors. Mr. Pramod Kumar

Agrawal, Chairman, GJEPC, while addressing the people present there said that Indian colorful jewel

industry has been one of the finest cutting centers for precious and semi precious gemstone. In India,

this industry has been for more than 300 years and currently 3 lakh people are directly involved in the

Gemstone business. By exploring new markets, GJEPC is continuously working to promote exports,

developing this area by providing an opportunity to meet international buyers through platforms such

as better infrastructure, skill upgradation, Indian Gem Stone Week.

India Gemstone Week was a mix of buyer seller meet (BSM) and an open exhibition. On the first &

second day, one-to-one meeting organized around 30 minutes of scheduled buyers and sellers and the

exhibition be organized on the third day.

In three days event, 30 exhibitors showcased their precious and semi precious gemstones and interacted

to approximately 75 international buyers companies from Algeria, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil,

China, Egypt, France, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, UK, USA

and Uzbekistan. India Gem Stone Week became the perfect platform to showcase India's strengths and

abilities of world-class cut and polished gemstones. For buyers, this event became an opportunity to

meet manufacturers for gemstone sourcing, understanding the supply chain, business rules and culture.
