REPORT ON THE INSTALLATION OF TWENTY (20) UNITS OF ATENEO-DONATED CLEAN WATER SYSTEMS IN LEYTE
November 26 to December 9, 2013
November 26 – Flight from Manila to Cebu
We got the E.coli test kits from Atty. June of Singledrop, Inc. in Cebu City
Nov. 27 – SITE INSPECTIONS AND COLLECTION OF WATER SAMPLES FOR E-COLI TESTS (We were accompanied by Councilor Reynaldo Golo of Municipality of Sogod, Leyte)
Sogod Central School: We met Mr. Marcilo G. Dator (Principal II)
Libas Elementary School: We met Barangay Captain David Tuble and Councilor Eliseo Calooy of Barangay Libas

Nov. 28 – We bought two 200-liter drum of diesel for the municipalities of Sogod and Javier.
Inspection at Brgy. San Jose, Tacloban City where we met Barangay Councilor Edwin Gualberto.
Redemptorist Church, Tacloban City: we met Fr. Edwin Bacaltos, CSsR
Sis. Jovy of Liceo de Verbo Devino introduced us to Sis. Ana Maria Raca, OSB (Treasurer of Divine Word Hospital in Tacloban City)
Dr. Micmic Delima’s Place, Tacloban City
We tested the water filter straw of the “Operation Compassion” group. It was cleared with e.coli.
Nov. 29 – After breakfast, we divided ourselves into two groups – the first group (led by Jun Granada) went to Cebu and fetched the cargo from Air21 and the second group (led by Paul Cabacungan)
continued the site inspection and water sample collection for e.coli testing.

Air21 delivered the remaining components and materials
Dec. 1 – Since all LGU offices were closed (Sunday), we made preparatory works at the residence of Vice-Gov. Sheffered Tan and Mayor Imelda Tan

Dec. 3 – INITIAL INSTALLATIONS
Brgy. Libas, Sogod: we were able to finish the initial installation in two hours
because the local people helped us
Brgy. Suba, Sogod: we met barangay Captain Rolando Terante (middle) and Councilor Reney Gerona (second from the right)
La Purissima Concepcion II, Sogod: we met Barangay Captain Rita C. Dallon; we were able to finish the initial installations in three barangays in a day because the Municipality of Sogod sent two of their electricians to help

Dec. 6 – COMPLETE INSTALLATIONS AND OPERATION & MAINTENANCE TRAINING
Sogod Municipal Hall – 1 unit
After completing the set-up in Sogod Central School, we demonstrated the system by running the newly harvested rainwater. Most of us had a drink including the students (we have a video of this event). –

Dec. 7 – COMPLETE INSTALLATIONS AND TRAINING
Philippine Science High School, Palo: Director Rey Garnace (in blue shirt) accepted the donation; we trained Engr. Charlie Tampil (with a black cap) on the operation and maintenance of the system –

Palo Central School, Palo: Councilor Reynaldo Golo helped us install our clean water system;
he provided the wooden structure to elevate the solar panel and an old water container to house the electronic components;
we used an empty clear plastic water container to protect the light bulb from rain - 1 unit
Priests’ Retirement House in Sacred Heart Seminary, Palo – 1 unit
Installation in Javier– installed 1 unit in Javier Police Station and 3 units to be installed by Javier Municipal engineers
Dec. 8 – This was how we siphoned (draw out) diesel fuel from the drum to our vehicle.

Dec. 10 – Installation and training at the Church of Easter Faith Christian School, Inc.
