ABOUT IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell)

Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Dronacharya PG College of Education, Rait has organized

Two-Day National Webinar on “National Education Policy-2020: A Holistic Roadmap for

the Transformation of Educational Landscape” on 29th & 30th October, 2020 in association

with GGDSD College, Rajpur (Palampur) and in collaboration with MGNCRE, Deptt. of

Higher Education Ministry of Education, Govt. of India

This Two Day National Webinar is expected to talk and present views about the various aspect

of education at different level like school education, higher education, vocational and

professional education and etc. by Expert from various level of Education and participants from

different part of country.

ABOUT THE TWO DAY WEBINAR

The National Education Policy 2020 envisions a contemporary education system that

foresees to contribute directly to transform our nation sustainably into an equitable

and vibrant knowledge society, by providing high quality education to all. This

Policy envisages creation, transmission, use and dissemination of knowledge as a

part of the continuum. The NEP is ambitious and futuristic but much of its success

will depend on how it is executed.

There is a need to create awareness about NEP amongst teachers, students, officials,

and other stakeholders in the higher education system so that we can together help

India in becoming a knowledge superpower.

This national webinar on National Education Policy-2020 is an attempt by

Dronacharya PG College of Education, Rait of engaging academic fraternity in

meaningful deliberations along with spreading awareness regarding NEP which will

contribute towards the intellectual wealth of the nation.

OBJECTIVES OF WEBINAR

To discuss the vision of NEP-2020 and the ways to accomplish the vision for the

promotion of quality and excellence in education.

To review the policy provision in School Education, Higher Education,

multidisciplinary education, teacher education, vocational education and

technology in education for equitable holistic education.

Commencement of Webinar with Tribute to Goddess

The webinar was scheduled through Zoom platform along with the live streaming on YouTube and

facebook for larger benefit. The event witnessed the participants of 700 academicians/students from the

different colleges and universities. The program started as per schedule and Asst. Prof Mr. Anish Korla

invited the college Managing Director Mr. G.S. Pathania, Executive Director Dr. B.S.Pathania,

Principal Dr. B.S. Bagh for the lamp lighting.

Hon’able Vice Chancellor HPU Shimla Dr. Sikander Kumar share his thoughts on this occasion of

NEP-2020 and emphasising the need to create and sustain quality standards in the higher education

institution. He emphasizing the need of reiterating the emergency created by Covid -19 pandemics he

urged all the stake holders of higher education, especially the teachers, to utilize the courses and

develop new process that increases the relevant the novel initiatives inculcated in the National

Education Policy in its implementation.

He opined that with NEP 2020 coming to effect major changes is going is going to happen in school

system and it may turn out to promote rote learning. However he appreciated that introduction of

told that, it is a very first initiative taken by govt. of India for the growing development of country. They

focus on high quality Education, Holistic policy and Ancient India Knowledge system of NEP-2020.

Coming to Higher education sector as universities are the knowledge creation centres , a substantial

increase in the investment in the research & innovation area is welcome one. Also when the strength of

2020. The major take away from her presentation was:

1. The existing 10+2 system will be replaced with the 5+3+3+4system.

2. Incorporation of pre-primary school within the formal ambit of ‘school education.’

3. A multi lingual approach in teaching learning must be a challenging in early years in

implementation of NEP 2020.

Talk by Resource Person ( Technical Session-III)

Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Technical Session 3 Resource Person acquainted the participant with

concluding remarks of the paper presented in Day 2 with the permission of the Chair. She

gave her insight on various components of NEP 2020 like “Vocal for Local”. Resource

person also talk about the need of competency, efficiency and productivity skills in era of

globalization. She discussed about the 4 major integration given in NEP 2020. These

integration are : Learning integration, Theory and Practical integration, Integration of Indian

ancient philosophy with use of technology and innovation., Multidisciplinary integration. She

also said the real game changer of this NEP 2020 are teachers educators. She said this policy

also talk about early childhood care, nutrition health of school children, practical knowledge

through internship program at school level.

The panelists of the session were Prof. S.P.Bansal, VC HPTU, Hamirpur, Dr.

W.G.Prasanna Kumar, Chairman, MGNCRE, MHRD India, Dr. Suresh Kumar Soni,

Chairman, HPBOSE, and Prof. (Dr.) Nain Singh, Chairman, Department of Education,

HPU Shimla.

While answering quries of participants Dr. Nain Singh said teacher must be up-to-date to

impart knowledge. Teacher must act as a role model to see the desired change in their

students. Educational Institution must follow quality based norms to excel in education field.

In second day of National Webinar, Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Govind

Singh Thakur was the Chief Guest of Valedictory Session. Hon’ble Education Minister

said this New Education Policy will be proved as a mile stone in the upcoming time. He

talked about positive aspects of this policy. He also talked about higher education reforms

which have mentioned in NEP 2020.

committee/Task Force in order to plan & implement the practices in NEP-2020.

2. Teachers have to play big role with the proper awareness of National

to make cordial environment for implementation.

3. Teacher has to immediately chalk out some action plan regarding

implementation of value education & multidisciplinary education for his class/

department at his own level without wait for regulatory instructions.

4. Learning and relearning by the teachers can enhance his ability to further deal

with teaching challenges.

5. Promote Local language with dominant languages in their locality in some

extent and insist other also because use of local languages enhances learner’s

experience.

CONCLUSION OF SUGGESTIONS :

1. Teacher’s need to upgrade themselves with changing scenario and should not

stick to the traditional way.

2. Proper sensitization of rural schools to catch up with their urban counterparts.

3. Taking into confidence all the stake holders i.e. the management, teaching staff,

students and parents.

4. It should be implemented keeping in mind that the poor and vulnerable should

also get the equal kind of education.

5. Train the teachers effectively and making the administration to facilitate the

process.

6. Teachers must be given adequate orientation programme.

7. At school level the language selection should be based on zone or inter-zone.

8. Digital learning sessions must be essential for faculty.

9. School students must get 10 bag free days in a year during which they should be

trained or exposed to vocation of their choice

10. More attention should be paid on refining skills of children rather than just

emphasizing upon academic.

OUTCOME OF TWO DAYS WEBINAR

NEP is a positive step towards nation building and has a strong vision of

shaping the youth towards skilled and job oriented.

Vision of NEP effectively discussed with all the attendees so that they

can put this in practice.

NEP really brings more institutional and teacher autonomy but

institutional changes (structural) and teacher’s skill up gradation is must.

Teachers have to be ready to play greater role in future and role of teacher

in context of NEP has been discussed.

The implementation of vocational & Professional education in more

extensive way and with use of multidisciplinary education results

increase GER ( gross enrolment ratio)

All the key points or suggestions received from participants/delegates

related to effective implementation of NEP further presented to State

Higher education .
