PRAISE THE LORD! God’s people are faithful to His call!
Our pledge goal of $4,000,000 has been met!
REMINDER: Please mark your offering envelope “TTT” when giving toward our new Children’s building.
David Higgs Pastor
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…
What a joy it was to hear Gloria Mills and Rusty Phenix announce to the church last Sunday that we had met our goal of $4 million in commitments for our proposed new children’s building! As a church, we give God all the glory for this accomplishment.
As your pastor, I am so proud of you. For a church our size, we had a great stewardship campaign. Any church that can raise $4 million dollars has had a great victory. You are an amazing congregation. It is my prayer that God will bless each one of you in a great way. Isn’t it amazing what a church can do when the people work together!
I do want to say one more time how grateful I am to everyone who served on our stewardship leadership team. This team did an excellent job of leading us through this campaign.
Everyone wants to know where we go from here. Well, two things will begin to take place. First of all, our members will continue to fulfill their stewardship commitments by giving to the children’s building. So far, the church has received over $700,000 of the $4 million that has been committed. You can see that our people are fulfilling their commitments at a rapid pace! Secondly, we will begin to meet with architects and begin the process of developing the plans for the new children’s building. The process of developing these plans will take a considerable amount of time.
As you read this update, would you please stop what you are doing and give thanks to God for what He is doing at First Baptist Church? Have a great week and I will see you Sunday.
Rod Salmon Minister of Music
Karen T. is back! Thank you Lord for our Music Assistant. Karen just got back from her orchestra mission trip
to Hungary. God did a great work through these willing servants.
Choir! I know its summer, but let me encourage you to be faithful every Sunday and Wednesday to help us lead our congregation to worship our Lord. Christmas Music is coming soon!
Summer is in full swing, many families are enjoying some much needed family time. I know Myrna and I
really had a wonderful time with our two grandsons at our family reunion vacation in Raleigh NC. Also it was a wonderful blessing to spend time with all the kids and Myrna’s mom. To top it all off, Daniel Hastings
proposed to Molly. Daniel loves our Lord Jesus and desires to be a full time minister. I know I'm a blessed
man. Especially when I think of the joy of having a personal relationship with Christ my savior, the most wonderful family a man could have, an awesome Pastor and staff to work with every day, and a church family
second to none!!!!! Thank you Jesus!!!
But forget all that- It is nothing compared to what I am going to do. Isaiah 43:18

We have a couple of new additions to our staff family. Mischelle Carle is serving as the receptionist and she will also be giving support to the Minister of Children. Neal Vinson is joining the staff as the maintenance supervisor. We are thankful to have these two join our support staff. Be sure to welcome them the next time you see or talk to them.
The end of August marks the beginning of the Sunday School year. This year we plan to kick off the new year as we have the last couple of years with a tailgate breakfast. Our Sunday School classes will be planning and working on contacting all Sunday School members and inviting them to be present. Each class is to help set our high attendance goal for August 24. Mark your calendar now to be sure you are available to attend Sunday, August 24 at 8:30am.

What a fantastic summer this has been! We just got back from our first 5th/6th grade mission
trip. I couldn’t be more proud of this group of preteens! Despite some disadvantages going into
the trip, they rose to the occasion. We went into six different apartment complexes in the in-
ner city of San Antonio where the preteens led Kid Power Camps, backyard Bible club type
events. The preteens led every aspect – telling Bible stories, teaching crafts, giving their tes-
timonies, leading games, teaching memory verses, sharing the gospel, and counseling children
who wanted to accept the Lord. These kids stepped out of their
comfort zone and allowed God to use them in a mighty way! Several
of our FBC preteens led children to the Lord. They were definitely
not doing “kids’ stuff.” They were doing Kingdom “stuff”!! You, as a
church, should be extremely proud of these preteens! The future is
bright with these leaders for Christ!

First Baptist Church, I wanted to thank you for the Senior Sunday Breakfast and
the Bible. The Bible will be very helpful in learning more about my Sav-ior and it will help in my Biblical studies degree at DBU. Thanks, Kale Buckner Thank you so much for awarding me the Fred Hale Scholarship. This scholarship will help me greatly while at Dallas Baptist University.
