Page 4: Repositioning library services in academic and research libraries in nigeria using web 2.0 tools

Main: To appraise the utilization of Web 2.0 tools in repositioning library system services in Nigeria.

Specifics: To:• Find out the Web 2.0 tools available in libraries• Identify areas in libraries where the available Web 2.0

tools are applied.• Find out the extent of application of these available Web

2.0 tools in libraries• Find out the challenges in using the identified Web 2.0

tools• Identify strategies to enhance the challenges in using

the identified Web 2.0 tools.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

Area of Study: NigeriaResearch Design: Descriptive SurveyInstrument: Questionnaire350 questionnaire copies were distributed to

librarians that attended academic and research library session of the 2011 NLA National conference, while 297 copies were returned.

Method of Data Analysis: Simple percentage and frequency and Mean.

. A stable and uninterrupted supply of power is needed to march on with worldwide Web 2.0 development in the libraries. Libraries now exist as place and space.

• librarians should gain adequate orientation on web 2.0 tools application in library as it will enhance library operations as well as widen the horizon of librarians in this area.
