Reproduction

Sexual and asexual reproduction

Page 2: Reproduction

Is the biological process by wich new “offspring”. Reproduction is a

fundamental feature of all new life; each individual organism exists as the

result of reproduction.

The know methods or reproduction are broadly grouped into two main

types:

Sexual reproduction

Asexual reproduction

Most plants have the ability to reproduce without another individual of

that species.

Page 3: Reproduction

Is a biological process by wich organisms create descendants that have a

combination of genetic material contributed from 2 different members of

species.

Most organisms form 2 different types of gametes. These species, the 2

seyes reffered to as male (producing sperms, and microspores) and female

(producing eggs and megaspores).

Most animals including humans and plants reproduce sexually.

Page 4: Reproduction

Human reproduction is any form of sexual reproduction resulting in the conception of a child,

typically involving sexual intercourse between a man and a woman. During intercourse, the

interaction between the male and female reproductive systems results in fertilization of the

woman's ovum by the man's sperm, which after a gestation period is followed by childbirth.

Page 5: Reproduction

Pregnancy is the period of time during which the fetus develops, dividing via mitosis inside the

female. During this time, the fetus receives all of its nutrition and oxygenated blood from the

female, filtered through the placenta, which is attached to the fetus' abdomen via an umbilical

cord. This drain of nutrients can be quite taxing on the female, who is required to ingest

slightly higher levels of calories. In addition, certain vitamins and other nutrients are required

in greater quantities than normal, often creating abnormal eating habits. Gestation period is

about 266 days in humans.

Birth Once the fetus is sufficiently developed, chemical signals start the process of birth, which

begins with the fetus being pushed out of the birthing canal. The newborn, which is called an

Infant in humans, should typically begin respiration on its own shortly after birth. Not long

after, the placenta eventually falls off on its own. The Person assisting the birth will usually

detach the mother from the baby using a Cutting tool there by, cutting it off.

Page 6: Reproduction

Sexual reproduction is seen in nearly all animals. In animals reproduction also

involves production of gametes that are haploid cells. In unicellular organisms like the

protozoans, the gamete-producing individuals are called gametocytes. The gametes

may be similar - isogametes as in Monocystis or dissimilar - heterogametes as in

Plasmodium. In the latter the gametocytes are:

Macrogametocyte (female)

Microgametocyte (male)

Page 7: Reproduction

Is the process by wich an organism, creates a genetically similar or identical copy of itsels without a contribution of genetic material from another individual. Bacteria divide asexually via binary fisson, viruses take control of a host cells to produce more viruses.

These organisms often do not process different sexes, and they are capable of spitting themselves into 2 or more individuals.

Page 8: Reproduction

Plant reproduction is the production of new individuals or offspring in plants, which

can be accomplished by sexual or asexual means. Sexual reproduction produces

offspring by the fusion of gametes, resulting in offspring genetically different from the

parent or parents. Asexual reproduction produces new individuals without the fusion

of gametes, genetically identical to the parent plants and each other, except when

mutations occur. In seed plants, the offspring can be packaged in a protective seed,

which is used as an agent of dispersal.
