PRODUCT SAFETY COUNCIL Role and tasks

Monitors the functioning of mechanisms for communication and cooperation between market surveillance authorities and between customs authority and market surveillance authorities and makes recommendations for effective implementation of these mechanisms

Considers and gives opinions on draft procedures and reports relating to:

Questions about the risks of products in accordance with the law Monitoring of accidents and damage to health which are suspected to have been caused by the products Undertaking corrective measures

Coordinates the activities of market surveillance authorities and customs authority in the preparation of the general program draft of market surveillance

To hold the administrative affaires and chairmanship of the Product

Safety Council (meetings, action plan, working groups, report to the government)

To support the market surveillance authorities in their implementation

and adoption of Law on Market Surveillance and other legislations in the field

To administrate the Rapid System of Exchange of Information on

dangerous (non-food) products

Coordination of Market Surveillance includes the following tascs:

QMS&QM&Continuous Professional Development- CPD IPA 2010-More than 30 workshops&485 participants

Cooperation between MTT-MI, MH-SI, MAFWM, ME-QIS and Customs

Administration (CA) IPA-2010-Strengthening of the Serbian Market Surveillance

system for non-food and food products

MTT-MARKET INSPECTION SECTOR is in charge of/responsible for: activities and measures that should ensure that non-food products meet the requirements defined by relevant regulations and that they do not endanger the health, safety and other aspects of public interest (market surveillance) MS: electrical equipment intended for use in defined voltage limits; simple pressure vessels; construction products; electromagnetic compatibility for products; equipment for personal protection; household gas appliances; warm water boilers on liquid or gaseous fuels; machinery; lifts; radio and telecommunication terminal equipment; motor vehicles; oil and oil products; chemicals and biocide products consistent with special regulations; textile, textile products, and footwear

Coordination within the Rapid System of Exchange of Information on dangerous (non-food) products (NEPRO), which in the further development should be integrated into the system of exchange of information on dangerous products in the European Union and informing the EU Commission (RAPEX)

SCOPE OF COOPERATION: Application of risk assessment procedures, documents and experiences in this field. Sharing information and knowledge in other fields and documents such as: checklists, instructions, procedures etc. Selection of products which are interesting for all Parties and organization of joint actions in testing and analysing these products Selection of testing laboratories Sampling of products in each country and sharing and discussing about the results and findings Exchange the information on unsafe products (product identification data) found on the markets of the countries taking part in the joint actions Exchange the information on the measures taken and follow up actions
