Faith Trinity United is looking for quarter-time ministry to worship with us to inspire, to encourage, to bring hope in God’s living presence among us, ever-mindful of the scripture, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and to leave us wanting to learn more and to grow in our spiritual life. The position requires leadership through consensus building and strong working relationships with our staff, our church leaders, and within our church community at large. Autonomy in Decision-Making:

It is expected that our minister will work in a collaborative, cooperative and respectful manner with our existing staff and leadership within our church congregation. Decisions with respect to worship are agreed upon with the applicable governing body and musical staff. For the most part, our minister has discretion in decision making within the bounds of the annual budget. Vacation time and time for study leave are determined in consultation with the M&P Committee

and/or the applicable governing body.

Principal Areas of Responsibility and Associated Duties:

Responsibilities, tasks and time commitment over one-month period (40 hrs): The following is a breakdown of the tasks that quarter time ministry personnel would be required to accomplish and the approximate time spent in each task over a one-month period: Worship Planning and Preparation 8-12 hrs. Worship Leadership 2-4 hrs (includes Discipleship at the discretion of minister) Governance (meetings) 2-4 hrs. Wider Church (Presbytery/Conference) 2-4hrs. Pastoral Care 6-8 hrs Administration 2-4 hrs Other 2-4 or as time permits (includes bible studies, fundraisers, dinners, mission projects)

Worship:

Personal connection; Relevant; Biblical; Inspirational; Hopeful; Encouraging

There is a copyright license in place.

Use Christian music from a variety of publications including Voices United.

We strongly believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost therefore we accept our worship to be Biblical based from the scriptures of the Holy Bible.

We would like worship to be prayerfully relevant and personally connected to our everyday lives.

Worship should be inspirationally encouraging and leave us with great hope, ever-mindful of the scripture, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We are looking for Sunday morning worship that leaves us wanting more.

At most we would look for a very prayerful person who uses prayer in all our activities.

Our pew hymn book is ‘The Hymnal for Worship & Celebration’, (1986, Word Music). Also, as supplement to our hymn book, we have ‘Songs for a Gospel People’, (1971, Woodlake Books).

We have the NIV bible in the pews.

We have limited knowledge of technology.

We like a delivered sermon.

Our prayer is silent and/or led by Pastor with an occasional prayer circle when needed.

We have numerous fully supportive and talented lay people to help with services.

Leadership:

Facilitator; Consensus builder; Relationship builder; Idea Person; New enthusiasm; Create new growth; Cheer leader; Empower and encourage existing skills and gifts; make God real; make God relevant; share leadership with next generation; walk with us; meet us at our level and walk with us; bring youth in; help us with barriers (can’t be all things to everyone).

We look to our minister for leadership skills to guide us towards our mission statement “Communities making Christ known and sharing God’s love”.

We look to our minister as a leader to walk with us and set good examples.

We look to our minister to lead through building consensus and strong working relationships with our staff and church leaders and within our church community at large.

We look to our minister to help us facilitate new growth, with new enthusiasm and to cheer us on, encouraging existing skills and gifts, all for the glory of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We are looking for a consensus builder and able companion to support and nurture.

We look to our minister for shared leadership with our elders and congregation.

Leadership should be collaboratively shared among the different committees.

Leadership needs to empower and encourage.

We look to our minister to develop, encourage and coordinate our congregation and particularly our young people/adults.

Discipleship:

We now have a few ways we work with God such as our Ladies Bible Study and Prayer Group, U.C.W., Sunday School, and Christian Education for those interested in confirmation.

Our hope is to have a young people’s group, men’s club, couples club or any other ways to teach and share God’s love among all ages.

We look to our minister to actively support people of all ages to grow in their own knowledge and experience of faith, particularly through inspiring message.

Pastoral/Spiritual Care:

We look to our minister as someone who cares greatly for our church members and community.

At present we have a very spiritually gifted lay person covering for our pastoral care who would be a great support person for our minister.

We have a multitude of lay people available for Pastoral Care including one lay person that is on call for Pastoral Care support and is paid.

As a practice we have not ran police checks on our volunteer personnel since they are been in our community most of their lives and their background is well known by the congregation.

The use, retention and disclosure of personal information collected from this form is done in compliance with privacy legislation including, but not limited to, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (2000,c.5). ** THIS FORM IS NOT VALID IF ALTERED. **

Stewardship:

Our stewards are concerned mainly with finances and investments within the needs of the church.

We also have a memorial fund which is designated for the nicer extras in our church.

Our stewards are responsible for receiving and depositing the weekly collections.

We have many human gifts in our midst that are presently being used for such roles as leading Sunday School, musical piano/organ players, lay ministers, and those holding leadership positions with our various church groups and committees.

Historically we rise to the need financially when required.

Justice and Outreach:

Our greatest mission and outreach is in Faith Missions which covers many areas of local community interests. Mission & Service is also supported.

Both mission groups are available on our weekly church envelopes.

We are not familiar with the Justice aspect of the church but we are open to learning the meaning of it and then perhaps consider what we may do God being our helper.

Personal Spirituality and Self Care:

We gather both before and after church for the purpose of supporting both individual and collective spirituality and self-care, as well as to build a sense of community within our church congregation.

We do not have specific written goals in this area as our gathering is very informal.

Because we are rural we are together a lot outside the context of our church congregation.

We know each other as a family within the congregation.

We work and play well together.

Together, as a combined congregation, we grieved the loss of two of our church buildings, and celebrate our courage and strength in coming together as one.

We are a church family that looks over each other and cares for each other both spiritually and physically.

Ministry Partnerships:

We are fortunate to have lay ministers in our midst that we have called on quite frequently.

We have used a wide variety of speakers for Anniversary and special events.

There is a ministerial group in our Lambton Presbytery area that some of our ministers have used.

Our minister should be able to work with our church staff such as our secretary, our pianist, and other group leaders within our church.

It would be great to be intermixed with other churches and schools in our area, letting everyone know the love of God.

We are open to growing with other churches.

We are open to continued growth in partnerships in and around our community, and within and beyond our own church congregation.

We are open to new ministry models, example ‘clustering’.

PART D: ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY

This is what we love about our community. This is what makes it unique.

We take care of each other

We are respectful of each other

We are a close knit community

We are supportive of each other

We have capacity to bring together good things

God’s spirit is active in our community

Each generation leads in the next generation

God leads this congregation

Pastoral Care exists in spite of whether we have an active minister or not

We have strong prayer coverage

We lead our own outreach

We grew up together

Every member of our congregation is ‘family’

The three economic, demographic or political challenges facing our area are:

We are in a de-populating rural area.

Kids coming up are 10 years behind previous generations of families

Family per rural acreage is decreasing

Young people have left the area
