Initiation of Project in Service

•Q1-Discussion with other BUs other than Service has been completed

and the requirement for project creation clarified. For Service BU wewould like to know “What is the requirement to create project for

service?”

•Q2-For activities planned for a short duration in service, the requirementcan be fulfilled using NETWORK ORDER alone (no project). We would

like to have a threshold duration to have Project Process ( for Service

BU) What is the duration of Project for the service projects?

•Q3 – If similar projects are found to be repeated in business, we can

standardize regular projects based on the pattern. We would like to

know what are the regularly repeated patterns of projects (eg: -

Shopping Malls might indicate a regular pattern of WBS Elements) . So,

what are the standard projects you need to create?

•Q4 – Similar to above standard networks can also be used. We wouldlike to know regularly used networks.

•Q5 – Further to above questions, materials as well as service activities

(internal and external) can also be standardized to facilitate costing. So,

do you have regular projects where standardization can be applied for NETWORKS.?

• Qatar=Q CCR-3 (CCR)

•Q7- Are there scenarios where project is executed in one currency and

the procurement or any other support activity is done in another

currency. Do we need different currencies for project? Or do you deal

with different currencies in project cycle?

•Q8- Do you plan project activities considering both man and machine

costs? If so, do you want to create different work centers for man and

machine?

•Q9- Controls & CCR BU has confirmed that they would like to plan costs

even for internal employees. For Service BU (If Project System is used)

then do they like to calculate the cost of employee or not?

•Q10-What is team size for projects in service and in controls?

•Q11-Team can be assigned at Project Level (Top WBS Level) or it canbe assigned at each WBS Level (Lower WBS Levels or Each WBS). Do

you want to assign or create Team at Project Level? Or for each WBS

element?

•Q12- We can have the cost of labor and machine defined with

parametric values (such as X SAR/ Hour etc). Do you want to plan cost

of internal activity for per hour labor rate?

•Q13- Do you want to have activities linked with activity type or specificperson (eg: - Field Technician visit for inspection or Specific Person

Field Technician visit for inspection). The implication is specific person

assigned will not be available for other projects on adhoc basis.

Recommended practice is to have assignment only at activity level.

•Q14- Do you wish to do scheduling of resources yourself in the system

or do you like to provide rules of scheduling (like forward scheduling or

backward scheduling) so that system schedules resources as per the

rules configured.

•Q16- what are the cost planning method you want to use? Like overall

planning at WBS Element level or detailed cost planning at activity

level? CCR and Controls BU agreed on detailed planning at activity

level.

•Q17- If you assign material to activity then material cost will be added to

activity and you can capture total cost of activity with material. Whereyou want to plan your material in WBS element level or for each activity

level?

•Q18-For material planning in WBS Element manually PR creation is

needed. If you plan your material PR/Reservation will be createdautomatically. So what is the method of creating PR for project manual

or automatic?

Budget Planning of Project

•Q19- While planning the services of service activity If lump Sum cost

needed for service activity level or detailed cost at every service level

( example: - Installation of cabinet. Should planning happen at Cabinet

Level or at the individual detailed activities of installation of cabinet)?

•Q20-If service need budget control function or not? Budget is another

concept other than Plan Cost? If yes then budget is planned at what

level? Do you need warning at 90% and restriction at 100% or other

level of warning and error? After 100% you will not be able to make any

expenses on project including the PR and PR values. If you need any

expenses then budget supplement needs to be added. Other BU

manager want this functionality but they will not use initially. NOTE :-Implication is that urgent jobs might get struck for want of budgets. And

budget approval will be additional process. This feature of SAP is

generally used by contracting companies or for capital investment

projects. It is not recommended for operational purposes such as sales

and distribution. 9

Budget Planning of Project

•Q22- If PR needs budget check or only PO should apply budget check?

•Q23-If approval workflow needed for warning or error after 90% or 100%

budget consumption? Other (Controls & CCR) BU does not want this

workflow.

•Q24-After planning of budget, release of budget means distribution of

budget is needed or not like for initial phase 50% budget is released and

after phase 2 30% budget will be released. This feature is meant for

Capital Investment Projects and is not recommended for Sales

Processes based projects.

•Q25-How mitigation and Risk mitigation is linked with budget? Does it

mean only budget control. If so, it is already discussed in above

questions.

Revenue Planning of Project in Service

•Q26- When Sales order or quotation is assigned to project, Plan values

of sales order can be captured as plan revenues of project. This is

automatic revenue planning. If you want automatic revenue planning or

manual revenue planning project with WBS element? If yes, from where

you want to capture plan revenue to project , Is it from sales order or

form quotation. Recommended practice is Sales Order.

•Q28- From where you want billing from sales order or from projects? If

you want to use milestone billing functionality like milestone dates will

be assigned to sales order dates and after confirmation of milestone in

project billing dates will be unblocked in sales order until then sales

order billing dates will remain blocked. You can’t raise billing request

from sales order till now. After billing request all remaining process will

be in SD.

•Q30- Quality OK or Not OK radio buttons needed for quality check or

need details. Other BU’s form CCR and Controls need quality OK or Not

OK radio buttons.

•Q31- EH&S done or not needed with radio buttons or not?
