Introduction

I am delighted to present the research achievements of staff in the College of

Human Sciences over the last year. In an increasingly competitive research

environment, both nationally and internationally, and at a time of diminished

higher education resources, the College has demonstrated unequivocally its

standing as a leader of human and social science research. Staff have secured

over €3.4 millions of new research grants, collected numerous awards and

honours, published over fifty books and made highly significant research

contributions to tackling major societal challenges in the fields of poverty

alleviation, community inequality, public health, climate change and urban

sustainability.

Many congratulations to everyone concerned.
