Detailed deconstruction of 3 magazine covers

A bit research about magazine-The name of the magazine is ‘’Top of the Pops’’. This magazine is mainly focused on pop music. The main content of this magazine includes ‘’celebrity’’ gossip, fashion, and beauty advice, articles on pop and movie stars, quizzes, horoscopes, posters and song lyrics. The target audience of this magazine are young girls/ pre teens who are interested in fashion, gossip and pop music. The readership of this magazine is boys 18% and girls 85%, age range is 11-15 years old. Readership is 298,000.

The Masthead of the magazine is presented in large, capitalized pink font, which makes really eye- catching again the white background. Also the masthead written is extremely girl. This font and the main image suggest that the target audience is quite young.

The main image of this magazine cover is being in medium close – up. On the front page is showing singer Cher Lloyd that suggests the magazine is aimed at a pop music genre. She is wearing blue blouse and some dark blue jacket on it. The image is large and placed directly in the centre of the page creating o focal point for reader. Her face expression is quite serious and motivated, her eyes looks straight to the camera and is makes readers feel invited and more personal. This also connotes interesting which make the readers want to buy this magazine.

Barcode- issue date and the price of the magazine cover is very small and is doesn’t stand out. All of these inform reader about costing and information about the magazine. The price is 2.99, which is not really expensive.

Flasher- is used as a little taster to tell for the readers about what is going to be inside of the magazine. The circle colour is pink is again shows the target audience is mostly girls. Some of the words inside of the circle is black others is white. They bold these words, which is most important.

Smaller images- the smaller images as well shows what is going to be written inside of the magazine.Above of the main image is showing some sizzling posters, actually I think is because for young girls and they likes that.

Cover line- the colour is quit girly and cover lines make magazine more professional and nicely.

A bit research about magazine- the name of the magazine is ‘’ Billboard’’. This magazine is an international news magazine devoted to music industry, and is one of the oldest trade magazines in the world. The main content of this magazine includes celebrity, the most popular songs and albums. Billboard magazine is published weekly and the first issue was published in 1894. The target audience for Billboard magazine varies from young teens, from the age of 16 to young adults at the age of 26. This is because the magazine provides its readers with the latest updates from the charts, but of different and various types of genres

The masthead: of the magazine is presented in large, capitalized white font, which stands out from the background because the background is quite dark. This font and the main image suggest that the target audience is quite various age people. The colours of masthead are appropriate for both genders.

The main image: of this magazine cover is being in medium close-up. On the front page showing singer Rihanna and that’s tells for us that this magazine is going to be about music and celebrities. She is wearing some bright clothes, and on her back is a tattoo, which shows some black gun. Her make-up her red hair is really eye-catching. Her face expression is quite serious, her eyes looks straight to the camera. Actually her face expression greatly links to the pull quote ‘‘my fans don’t know who I am. And is automatically grabs readers attention and they want to buy and find more information about her

Cover lines: the design of cover lines on this magazine is quite interesting and colours appropriate to the main image and also background colours. The title is of the cover lines is in bigger black capitalized font and around the words is some like tables which highlight the title and the other writing is in white colour which on dark background stands out.

The main cover line: this cover line connotes the main image of Rihanna. Its in big, capitalized white font which stand out again the dark background.

A bit research about magazine- the name of the magazine is ‘’Q’’. Is a music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. The target audience of ‘’Q’’ magazine is over 25 years old, of both genders. The magazine includes a very wide reviews section: music, reissues, television, films, games etc. However most of magazine if filed with interviews and compiling lists Q was first published in 1986. The magazine features not one specific genre, but is said to features a lot of indie, pop and hip-hop. Also including new released music, music compilations, live concert reviews but also film reviews.

The masthead: of the magazine is presented in in large capitalized white font which is really eye catching against the red background. This font actually says that is appropriate for both genders because these colours can be and for boys and for girls.

The main image: of this magazine is being in medium close up. It’s showing in this magazine cover singer Adele. Her face expression again is serious; she holds her hand on her face. Her make-up and clothes is not stands out. Her hair looks like wind blows. She looks straight in to camera and her face expression gives a lot of feelings for readers. Colours: on this content page I can see red, yellow, white, black and pink colours. Actually all these colour links with the magazine front cover. This content page looks quite colourful, which tells straight away target audience that is for quite young people and probably more suitable for girls because is quite girly font and colours.

They shows the magazine cover page on the content page and with arrows they shows the number of the pages where is written inside about it.All decoration on this magazine is really nice the colours suits the target audience and also on the cover page also is really similar colours. They use some figures for e.g. hearts they say like ‘’we shopping’’ and the heart means love so is more like nicely way to convey the words in to figure.

Header/Banner- on this content page being used at the top, to attract people attention at the writing they use pink blocked to state what is going to be inside of this magazine.

Images: on this content page all picture actually shows what is the target audience for this magazine. Most teenagers girls likes singers from One direction. At the bottom is shows some cosmetic for girls and sure you can see that is for teenagers girls this magazine. Also is shows on this content page just singers and its shoes that this magazine is all about music.

Text: The titles of each of the section is in different, bolded black colour which actually really attracts people eyes. The numbers also is bolded in pink colour and in all of the section is something important they bolded letters to show that is something interesting or etc.

Header/Banner : on this content page used at the top which is in big white font against the black background which is really catch readers eyes.

Colours: on this content page colours are really simple, mainly white black and red and actually its shows that this magazine is suitable more for adults. The background colour is mainly dark grey and some columns is in light grey colour and all the words actually is really stand out in this colour. She has a bit make-up on her face which is not very stands out and she looks very simple but nice.

This content page is clearly shows all the titles and the font is understandable for all age of peoples. At the top is shows the magazine name ‘’Q’’. The pictures is not very different from the background colour is very similar and is not very catch peoples eyes. But on singer ‘ Adele’’ face is some shadows and by these shadows you can clearly see the face expression. Is looks like that her clothes is a bit in blurry colour.

Text: On this content page textIs very simple the font and the size of letters is quite similar, but the most interesting or important parts is in bolded letters and the titles are highlighted in red colour around. The number of the pages is in red and in bigger size letters which attract people attention.

Text: the text on this content page is also quite simple which is clearly understandable for all age of people. They use different colors to write some words and also titles to attract people attention.

Header/Banner: on this content page used at the top which is in a big, capitalized black font is some shadows on it. The background is white color so the masthead is rally stands out.

Images: the images on this content page is quite simple at the bottom is shows the man which from the face expression and by his position how he stands he looks like very positive and self-confidence. This picture is in medium close up in eye level angle. Him eyes looks at the top. He looks smart, he wears nice suit. The background where he stands is looks like some trees which was changed by photo-shop program.At the top is also three small pictures and on these pictures at the bottom shows the page where is inside in the magazine.

Colors: The colors of thisMagazine content page is very Elegance which shows the target audience of this magazine. Is suitable for teenagers as well but more suitable this magazine is for adults.The colors on this content page is mainly grey, white, black and blue. The word which may be is the most important or interesting is in highlighted color which draws attention in this parts. The background of this content page is mainly white so all the words all can clearly understand.

At the top in the left hand corner shows the name of this magazine. The titles is shows clearly and the colors I think was adapted to the magazine cover title because in this content page all colors was used which was used also on the magazine title.

The singer Lady Gaga she is obviously of high significance as she takes up the majority of the page. Her face expression is quite intriguing. She looks straight to the camera. This picture is in eye- level angle medium close up shot. This picture color editing in greyscale which makes photo more artistic and classic. She holds her hands on her chest. She wears very unusually and also interesting top. The background is white what you see first is she. On her face is some shadows which makes her face expression more stand out.

The text in this double spread page was written in the same font and size. But where starts new paragraph used bigger size to attract people attention.The large letter L which covers the majority of the page is highlighted that article is about Lady Gaga. The color of L anchors the color of the magazine logo.

At the bottom shows the the name of the magazine and issue date. All text is clearly and neatly shows in columns which is easy and comfortable to read for readers.At the top is the singer name and surname which tells that this article is going to be about this lady.

In this double spread page is shows the singer Cher Lloyds. By her face expression I can tell that she is exited or shocked by something. This picture is in eye level angle long shot. She is wearing some trousers and blue t-shirt. On her arm I can see the tattoo. Cher Lloyds holds the camera in her hands. Its looks like she taking picture of herself. At the top of this page is her name and surname in pink color around.At the bottom corner as well is in pink color.

The background is white so she is really attracts people attention.

The title of this spread is extremely big which really catch people eyes. The half of the quote written in black color and the other half in pink. The first paragraph starts in capital big letter in pink background which is really stands out from the other letters. All text is in the same font but is some text which is most interesting or important shows in highlighted in pink or yellow color. In the middle is her picture which associated whit this paragraph. The number of the page is highlighted in pink colour which stands out and also in bigger size. At the bottom is website where you can find more information about it.

In the right hand side is main image of the lady which is associated with this text where is written in other side about her. Her face expression actually shows the self-confident and she looks quite serious. Her make-up is also gives more colours in this spread her eye-shadow is suitable with her jewellery on her neck and hand. On her neck is a big and thick necklace and on her hand is some big jewellery which is really stands out in this picture. She holds her hand on the head. This picture is in medium close up, eye level angle shot.

In the left hand side is spread about her. Is clearly a show in the clearly arranged columns which is easier to read for the readers. Where is the paragraph finished starts new they highlighted the titles in black bolded colour. Under the text is one more picture of her she looks like she screaming or she got tired for everything. She is hold her arms on her head, and she closed her eyes and this picture I think associated with the quote which is above the picture and this quote is bolded and capitalized in pink colour which stands out from the others paragraphs.
