AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTISTS ResearchCouncil presents twenty-two theses in special AA0 session R eports on twenty-two exceptional research investigations will be presented at the MaJ 7 2 to 6 meeting of the American Association of Ortho- dontists in New Orleans. Th’ey were submitted from fifteen widely scattered American and Canadian dent,al schools, and they cover critical areas that ultimately will increase the quality of clinical orthodontic treatment. The AA0 Council on Research has the responsibility of mantaining a research section at the Association’s annual meetings. It also acts as the “judge of the Milo Hellman Award Essay contest and of the First Research Essay Award.” Its primary duty is to “promote, support, and collect infor- mation on the means and methods of improving and fostering research” and to encourage research seminars and publication of theses related to ortho- dontics. The Council on Research is composed of one member from each of the eight AA0 constituent societies. The 1970-71 Council members are Coenraad F. A. Moorrees (chairman), Harry L. Dougherty, James E. Harris, Robert B. Hedges, Elbert W. King, William R. Proffit, Sheldon W. Rosenstein, and Albert P. Westfall. The Council will be conducting its most extensive annual program at the New Orleans AA0 meet,ing. The sessions will take place all day Monday, May 3, in Rooms 14, 15, and 16 at the Rivergate Convention Cent,er. The 19’71 meeting has been organized in collaboration with t.he International Society of Craniofacial Biology. The research program follows : Monday, May 3, Convention Center Coenraad F. A.
