What I will be looking at

■ In this PowerPoint I will be looking at what is typically found in both Tich's music videos and pop videos. I will also be looking for influential photographers for the following topics

■ Hair Styles■ Make Up ■ Costumes■ Props■ Locations

HAIR STYLES

Tich's Music Videos■ In her music videos she tends to have very simple and classic hair

styles.■ She never goes for anything that is to daring or to out there. ■ In her obsession video she has her hair down for the whole video

however she adds hats to give herself a new look and add something to her hair rather than keeping it plain.

■ In her music video she does have her hair in some different styles such as a plait, a side ponytail and a messy bun. All of these are simple designs and can be done by many people as a quick and make the hair look really pretty and look like she spent a while on it.

Pop Music Videos■ In recent music videos female artists have been doing less and less

with there hair.■ One example of this is in music videos such as 'Do It Again' by Pia Mia

and 'Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself' by Jess Glynne ■ In Pia Mia's music video her hair is either down or in a simple ponytail

but either a bandana or a flower has been added to it in order to give it some glamour

■ In Jess Glynne's music video she either has her hair tied up or loose and unlike Pia Mia she doesn't add anything to her hair she just leaves it plain because her hair is a vibrant colour and has volume in it because it is curly.

Influential Photographs

■ My influential photographs are by Jim Crone. He is a make up and hair photographer.

■ Jim has been a make up and hair photographer for over 20 years.■ He photographs both simple hair designs and very intricate and

difficult ones. I have taken influence from the simple designs he has photographed as I feel this is more likely to feature in my video than the more extravagant designs.

MAKE UP

Tich's Music Videos■ In her music videos the make up worn is very plain and simple, it is

the classic everyday make up worn by many girls nowadays. ■ The only time she is shown wearing more than everyday make up is in

the second half of the breathe in breathe out video when she is getting ready to perform on this stage. This is because make up has to be more vibrant onstage to make it obvious.

■ The everyday make up links to the setting and time of day that the video is meant to be set at.

Pop Music Videos■ In many modern music video the main artist has been wearing a more

natural and everyday make up theme.■ In the music video for One Last Time by Ariana Grande she wears a

natural look that isn't too heavy and looks like something you could wear on a daily basis. This matches the setting because it isn't a fancy setting it is set at the end of the world and the natural make up fits well.

■ Selene Gomez wears very little make up in her 'good for you' video. This again links well with the setting of the video as it is a natural setting

■ Ellie Goulding wears natural make up in her On My Mind video and this really suits her and shows off her natural beauty rather than covering it with a lot of make up

Influential Photographs■ My influential photographs are taken from Karla Ticas.■ Karla photographs many things such as beauty and lifestyle. She also

photographs for adverts.■ I have taken inspiration from some of the photos with natural make up

as I feel this is the make up that will feature in my video as this has become the more recent make up choice for female artists in pop music video so looking at these images will help me make the right choice.

COSTUMES

Tich's Music Videos■ In her music videos Tich tends to wear very modern clothes that are

popular with her target audience. The clothes are in the video colourful and really show off the theme of the music.

■ She tends to wear clothes that fit with the setting of the music video. So when she is at the party she is wearing a dress or when she is preparing for the concert she is wearing comfortable clothes.

■ Her clothes are very simple and don’t really stray far from what is popular at the time the music video is filmed.

Pop Music Videos■ Costumes in recent pop music videos have become less extravagant

and Moore plain and simple meaning that more people will like them and more people will be wearing clothes like that.

■ In the fight song video Rachel Platten is seen wearing a very simple white top and skirt it is very plain and there is no colour on the skirt.

■ In the On My Mind video Ellie Goulding wears very simple outfits such as a plain white shirt and a white night dress. These costumes have been used to show the change in her character when she starts to wear darker clothes.

■ Ariana Grande wear a hoodie and jeans for her One Last Time video. This is a very relaxed costume for Ariana and helps highlight the theme of the music video which is the end of the word.

Influential Photographs

■ My influenctial photographs are taken from Niomi Smarts Blog.■ I like Niomi's style and how she always keeps her look really simple

and up to date. She keeps the whole style links together yet keeps it all very simple.

■ Her style is the kind of style that I would use in my music video as it is so simple yet works really well.

PROPS

Tich's Music Videos■ In Obsession Tich uses her keyboard as a prop. This has been well

used as many of her fans will recognise the keyboard from her videos when she used to do covers on YouTube.

■ Another prop used in the Obsession video is a iPad. This has been used to help the lyrics link to the storyline to show her looking at the picture of a boy.

■ In the Dumb video she use clothes as a prop. A large pile of clothes is shown and she is seen searching through them. This is relatable to many people in her target audience as many girl have experienced trying to find the right outfit by searching through all their clothes.

Pop Music Videos■ In Bridgit Mendler's Music Video for Ready or Not a pair of sunglasses

are used as a prop. They are well used because she uses them to help her performance and help her draw the viewer in to the video.

■ In Party in the USA video an old style microphone has been well used because it allows Miley to really perform the song and really give an emotional perfromance for the video.

■ In the Last Friday Night video Katy Perry uses the props in the video to show the narrative of the video and what is going on. The props are used throughout the whole video to highlight the party and the morning after.

Influential Photographs ■ I have taken my inspirational photos from the Internet to give me an

idea of the kinds of props to feature in the music video.■ I looked at these pictures because they show both obvious and

different props and I don't really know what kind of props to show in the music video and looking at pictures like these will really help me decide the type of props I will include in my video.
