Style of Music video

Their music videos are generally in low level lighting and including these frequent flashes between the story and the band/lead singer but the music videos mainly focus on the band. This associates the band with the audience and gives the viewer the sense that they are watching them live.

Their music videos also include science fiction green screen scenery with the actors possessing some sort of special powers. This builds the intensity of their music videos and can be argued to make them appear more powerful and therefore more exciting for the viewer. The editing of these music videos are pretty complex and give the viewer, the feeling that they are watching a futuristic music video and therefore more exciting for them. This can be argued.

The music videos are generally quite colourful but the actors are usually dressed in dull clothing to seek attention to their face and show their feelings which links with the meaning of the music video.

There is a variety of shot types throughout their music videos but these usually include flashes to extreme close ups of the band members (as shown on the top photo). Furthermore, they like to use a single scene for the band playing but use a variety of shot types within to keep the video exciting. The reason for the lack of scenes is to not confuse the viewer and keep things simple which also gives the feeling that the band is playing live. The close-ups further demonstrate the lip syncing and reinforces this idea of the music video being live.

Similar to their website, their album cover follows a simple but beautiful code which shows the band as creative and mainstream. The shot type used is a extreme long shot and is used to show the band as alone and together (brothers). The colouring used is conventional to the genre ‘Rock’ and gives the audience the feel of excitement as they are already familiar to this particular colour choice.
