• It is important in order to learn something new about a topic

Research Paper

• A good research paper includes: – Variety of relevant sources– Thesis Statement– Interesting topic– New and interesting facts

Primary Sources

• First-hand knowledge of what has happened.

• Examples– Diaries– Journals– Interviews– Letters– Eyewitness accounts

Secondary Sources

• Source that was created later by someone who did not experience first-hand or participate in the events or conditions you’re researching– Encyclopedia– Periodical (Magazines/Newspapers)– Textbook– Websites

• The main idea of an essay. It is usually no longer than 1-2 sentences.

• Choose something you are interested in– Make sure your topic isn’t too broad

– For example: • Too Broad: Wars• Narrowed: World War I

New and Interesting Facts

• Attempt to pick a subject that you are interested in, but don’t know a great deal about– If you are going to take the time to

do research, learn something.• A novel idea I know!!!
