1.This one day workshop is aimed at those with little or no knowledge of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and how it might be used in research projects.
The workshop comprises four sessions as follows:
introduction to CDA
data collection & approaches to analysis
doing CDA – working with your data
developing your CDA approach & completing your project

•In this workshop we will consider the following questions: • what is discourse analysis?• what is critical discourse analysis?• why is it useful?• what does it analyse? • can I do it?• what date is available ?• what is the unit of analysis?• what approach to adopt?
•We will also explore:• examples of a CDA • written text as well as image as ‘text’
•In addition:• you will have an opportunity to engage in the critical analysis of
selected ‘texts’
