    Research Design

    The descriptive-survey design will be employedin the study since this study will attempt to

    determine the effects of time spent on Facebook tothe study habits of Education students of CagayanState University-Lal-lo.

    This method will be used because it is designedto gather information about people and perceptions.Moreover, the profile of the respondents and thedata gathered were being analyzed, after which the

    results were described and interpreted accordingly.

    Locale of the Study

    The study will be conducted in the Collegeof Education Department at Cagayan StateUniversity-Lal-lo. The college has 420 students,12 regular teachers and 3 lecturers. CagayanState University of Lal-lo is 2.7km away fromthe National Road. This school is chosen as venueof the research because the researchers arepresently studying in the said school.

    Respondents and Sampling Techniques

    The respondents are the Sophomore TeacherEducation Students of Cagayan State University-Lal-lo for the school year 2014-2015 will be utilized inthis study. A total of 90 BSEd and 25 BEEdstudents are enrolled this school year. Purposive-random sampling technique will be used indetermining the respondents for the BEEd curriculumand BSEd curriculum .

    Research Instruments

    To gather the needed data, the researcher will use thequestionnaire and interview methods.

    The questionnaire, according to Best (1989), is adirect way of knowing peoples feelings, experiences, thoughts,and motives behind their behaviors. It is the term used foralmost any instrument on which individual responses isrecorded.

    The interview will be used as supplementary source of data.The researchers will make use of unstructured interview, whichis face-to-face, verbal and allow direct instruction between therespondent and the researcher.

    Collection of Data

    As a matter of protocol, the researchers will first

    secure the permission from the associate Dean of theCollege of Teacher Education to conduct the study.When it will be approved, the researchers will personallyfloat the questionnaire and will conduct personalinterview to the respondents to validate their views.The questionnaire will be relieved immediately to avoidloss and delay.

    Analysis of Data

    The gathered data will be tallied, tabulated,analyzed and interpreted using the frequency countsand percentage distribution.

    For the analysis of the effect of Facebook use on

    the study habits of the respondents, meancomputation will be employed. The mean computationto be used is the 4-point Likert Scale.

    Summary:

    This study was conducted to achieve two goals:

    (a) to determine the number of hours spendduring weekdays and weekends in usingFacebook, and

    (b) to identify the effect/s of using Facebook to

    the study habits of Sophomore Educationstudents of Cagayan State University Lal-loCampus.

    Summary:

    It used the descriptive survey design with 40respondents chosen randomly. Data weregathered using a questionnaire and interview.The gathered data will be tallied, tabulated,analyzed and interpreted using the frequencycounts and percentage distribution. For theanalysis of the effect of Facebook distraction

    on the study habits of the respondents, meancomputation will be employed. The meancomputation to be used is the 4-point LikertScale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and

    Strongly Disagree).

    Conclusions

    Through the data gathering and analysis of information, the researchers

    have concluded that most of the respondents are female , and they are just

    in the right age for taking tertiary education. In terms of Parents

    occupation, most of their fathers are farming and their mothers are

    unemployed (housekeeping).

    On the other hand, in terms of their general average, most of therespondents answered that their general average last 2 nd semester was 85-

    89 . Most of the respondents spent 1 to 2 hours in studying their lessons.

    Conclusions

    We found also that most of the respondents accessedtheir Facebook account daily for 1 to 2 hours . Theresearchers have therefore concluded that Facebookpossess appealing and strong factors which leadstudents to hook with.

    Messaging, keeping in touch with friends and checking

    news feeds and notifications are their usual purposesin logging to Facebook, and cellphone is their widelyused gadget in logging to Facebook .

    Badly, majority of the respondents said that Facebook

    replace their time of studying , and it is a distraction to their

    studies . According to them, they were procrastinated andwere distracted from school works because they exchange their

    time of studying to Facebook. Moreover, Facebook addiction

    affects the study habits of the sophomore education students

    from their studies negatively, majority of them answered that

    it affects their studies to a moderate extent , and it

    contributes to their studies to a lesser extent .

    Hence, the modern era has really affected everyones

    normal routines life. When you are just about to study or

    sleep, you update your status or post pictures which make it

    so unusual in todays generation. This Facebook become part

    of a students daily routine, however too much addiction to

    it can cause distraction to their studies. Time management

    and discipline must be considered to have good study habits

    and to succeed in life.

    Recommendations:

    On the basis of the findings and conclusions of the study, the

    following recommendations are offered:

    1. Students should spend more time in studying than usingFacebook.

    2. Students should study daily.

    3. Students should pay more attention in studying.4. Parents should give more time to guide and limit their children.

    For the researchers who will be studying this research, they should

    study deeper about this.
