Research Process Overview
Step 1: Decide on a topic
Read your assignment: Know the length and format of
your paper. Know what types of
information formats you need.
Decide on your topic: Is it broad enough? Is it too specific? Are you interested in this topic?
Write down your topic in a sentence or two.

Finding Articles
Articles on your topic can be found by searching databases.
A database contains citations, abstracts and sometimes the full-text of an article.
Databases are searched by subject.
Examples:
Academic Search Complete
Business Source Complete
Communication & Mass Media Complete
Finding the right database: Click on Databases/Articles under the Find Column on the Library Home page.
Choose the Subject you want. We are going to choose Business

Interlibrary Loan: If GPRC doesn’t have the full-

You will be taken to your Interlibrary Loan account where you can submit your request. When the article arrives you get an email message at your GPRC student account.
