1. Feasibility study to determine needs analysis and include the requirements of each

department or services to be provided within the building

2. Topographical Survey

3. Soil Investigation(s)

4. Environmental Impact Assessment Studies(EIA) are essential for major structures

3. CuBiC - Caribbean Uniform Building Code for wind and seismic load analysis

4. Security Standards

5. Emergency Management

6. Life safety and infection control

7. Facility design must focus on producing productive and effective environments for staff

and visitors (Should incorporate Green technology-environmentally friendly design)

8. Commissioning of the building must entail best practices in design and construction

works

9. ;Constuction methodology suitable for low to medium rise structures bearing in mind –

Compound of Health Facility

SCOPE:

Conceptual design of the structure/infrastructure should meet the requirements of the Health

Ministry.

Pre-design planning specific but not limited to:

1. Functional requirements of the building(workflow, utilities and services)

EFFORT

1. The investment in the planning effort is critical to the successful design and ultimately

the building of a facility best suited to the efficient operational requirements of the MOH.

2. Policies articulated so that the facility design can reinforce the new MOH policies

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

1. Preparation of a model or plans, sections and perspective drawings of what is

needed;

2. Discussions with Administrative staff of the type of structure best suited to

effectively meet the needs of the MOH.
