Justificación

“If 98% coverage of a text is needed for unassisted comprehension, then a

8,000 to 9,000 word-family vocabulary is needed for comprehension of

written text and a vocabulary of 6,000 to 7,000 for spoken text.”

(Nation, 2006)

“…95% coverage may be sufficient for listening comprehension, and that

this can be reached with 2,000–3,000 word families.”

(Zeeland & Schmitt, 2013)

Good vs weak language learners (Ahmed

,1989)

Good language learners

• more aware of what they could learn about new words

• attention to collocation and spelling

• more able to connect new words to already known words

• used other learners as a resource for learning vocabulary

Underachieving learners

• more passive

• treated words as discrete items

Overall, GLL used VLS more frequently & a wider

variety

• Repetición
