The Hall sits just east of West Campus Road at the top of the bowl-like hillside that slopes down toward Potter Lake. There is an entrance off West Campus road meant for visitors and a back deck entrance (right) for occupants coming home from campus.

The back deck entrance is more convenient to use for students when coming back from campus. It terraces up to the front door with a series of stairs and ramps that allow students to mingle on different levels looking over the landscape. There would be moveable seating, opportunities for musical entertainment or movies projected onto the building’s wall.

The front entrance from West Campus Road is accessible through stairs or a series of ramps in order to be accessible for everyone. There is a circle drive that is conducive to moving in and an access road around the south side of the building for food companies to bring food to the kitchen.

The first floor is the most public level, including the dining hall/kitchen, workout area, practice rooms, conference room, convenience store, and group study space. These are all on the southern wing, while the northern wing houses the freshman and sophomore double rooms. The second floor is the entrance level and contains the public main floor lobby, but otherwise private rooms. The largest room on the floor is for the Graduate Student hall manager, and the other rooms on the southern wing are the junior and senior 4-resident rooms. The third floor also contains the different wings, but has a general core lobby as is seen on the next floor up along with private study spaces around the atrium. The fourth floor has a northern freshman and sophomore wing and a southern wing that has half the amount of junior and senior rooms as the 2nd and 3rd floors. The other half is the multi purpose rooms that can be connected through collapsible walls and have balconies to view the hillside down to the lake.

Each section of the building has a general theme to it that reap-pears somewhere else. The “mingle” category involves the main lobby, dining hall, and multipurpose rooms. The “connect” category is for the other floor lobbies, including the core, nooks, and end-of-the-wing lounges. The “study” category shows the rooms, both double and suite style, along with the lower level group study space.

Main Lobby Located under the atrium, the front desk faces both entrances due to its angled shape and houses a coffee shop as well as reception information for the hall occupants. Next to the entrance from the back deck is the mail room which has a lockable door into the room with storage shelves, and mailboxes accessible on the outside in the main lobby. There is a counter next to it which is there to sort mail and holds a recycling bin and trashcan underneath. There is also plenty of seating available, there are benches by the front entrance doors and elevator, along with high tables and stools in the middle.

The main lobby has an exposed staircase (right) unlike the other levels which leads down to the lower level with the public spaces like the dining hall.

Community Nook On each floor with the double rooms and central bathroom, there are two nooks, one for each community in the wing. Each is slightly different but each contain seating conducive to various sitting styles, a bag rack under the seat for backpacks, jackets or whatever else, and a wall that is half glass block so that one can see if people are inside and light can come in, but it is still a private space.

Floor Lobby + Kitchenette The 3rd and 4th floors each contain a lobby that has window seating and a kitchenette. These two floors vary because the 3rd floor has the laundry, and the 4th floor has private study space. This lobby provides a view of Potter Lake, kitchen amenities to let people bond around food, and moveable seating so that students can customize the space.

Fr/So Bedrooms In order to be conducive to organized studying, the desks by the window include shelving that increases in size toward the top, cubbies with dividers that can move to change the sizes, and the chair contains paper slots, a trashcan, and a coat or backpack hook on the back. These chairs are also seen in the Group Study space.

Group Study Space This study space includes desks with shelving underneath to hold any supplies not being used at the moment, and it is equally distributed to both students sitting at the table. The glass block divider walls do not reach to the ceiling but instead provide privacy while also letting in light. On the wall, there are paper holders that work like X-Ray holders where the paper is just stuck into the metal piece and stays in place without push pens.
