Convention increasing the uoDbersl,lip of the Council ancl Resolution A.70(IV)

of rienber-a in the :Mari tiDe So..f o ty Conrri ttee and to uodify the no thod of their
election,
NOTING !J-ID WELCOMING the increase in the nenbcnohi.p of the Organization
since these aoenc1oents were ac1op~ed,
RECOGNIZDJG the need to ensure at all tiues that the l)rincipal organe of the
Oruar1.ization are representative of the total neobership of the Or0anization and
ensure equitable geoc;raphic representation of NeDber States on the Cormcil,
RECJ...LLING its Resolution A.314(VIII) by which it decided to convene an
Jl...d Hoc Working Group to study :proposed auendnents to the IMCO Convention
concerning the size and conpoe i tion of the Council and. the Mari tine Safety Conni ttee
and any consequential related anendDents,

in the .Annex to this Reoolution, to Articles 10, 16, 17, 18, 20, 28, 31 and 32 of
the Convention on tho Inter-Governnontnl Maritir:io Consultative Organization,

HAVING DETEiiiiJJINED, in nccorclonce with the provisions cf ArticJ_e 52 of the
Convention, that these aoenc1neLts aro of such a nnturc that cJI1Y Menber which
hereafter declares that it does not accept the awendnents and which does not
accept the mendnents within a period of twelve nonths after the anendnents cone
.L."1.to force shall,upon the expiration of this period, cease to be a Party to
the Convention,
REQUESTS the Secretury-Gcneral of the Organization to deposit the adopted
n.oendr.10nts with the Secretary-General of the United Nations in accordance with
.Article 53 of the IMCO Convention ond to receive declarations ro1d instrunents of
acceptance as provided for in Article 54,
INVITES the Menoer Goverm.1ento to accept each aoendoent at the earliest
possible date after receivinG a copy thereof froo the Secretary-General of the
United lfations by coranmf cat ing the appropriate instrune.."1.t of acceptance to the
Secretary-General.
