RESOLUTION Sergeant II+I Joseph E. Priebe Serial Number 21926 WHEREAS, Sergeant II+I Joseph E. Priebe will retire on January 8, 2010 after 32 1 /z years of honorable and dedicated service from the Los Angeles Police Department; and WHEREAS, he born on June 19, .1953 in Van Nuys, California; and WHEREAS, Sgt. Priebe attended school in Reseda, California at Shirley E lementary School, Sequoia Junior High and graduated from Reseda High School in 1971. Thereafter, he graduated from Los Angeles Valley College in 1976 earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice; and WHEREAS, in January 1976, Sergeant Priebe began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. In June 1976, he joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff; and WHEREAS, on Ju ne 6, 1977, he was appointed as a recruit Police Officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. He was selected as his recruits class president and graduated number 2 in his class. He commenced with a long and distinguished career with assignments at West Los Angeles Patrol, West Valley Patrol, Hollywood Division Footbeat, Train ing Officer and Vice Investigator at Wilshire Division and Metropolitan Division B-Piatoon Element Member; and WHEREAS, on January 3, 1988, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned as a Patrol Supervisor at West Valley Division and West Los Angeles Division. In June 1989, he was promoted to Sergeant II and assigned to West Los Angeles Vice, Investigator at Internal Affairs Division and the Narcotics Group Tra ining Coordinator. For the past twelve years, Sergeant Priebe has been the Officer-in -Charge of the Narcotics K-9 Squad; and . WHEREAS, During his career, Sergeant Priebe has received over 100 major and minor commendations from the Department, outside agencies and citizens. They praised his outstanding police work, attention to duty, investigative skills, teamwork, superior tactics in emergency situat ions and performance under stress, job knowledge. He participated in a health and fitness regimen that assured him of not using a sick day in over 32 years of '-' service: NOW THEREFORE BE IT. RESOLVED THAT, by the adoption of this resolution, the Los Angeles City Council do hereby recognize, commend and congratulate Sergeant II+ Joseph E. Priebe for his th irty two and one half years of dedicated and ervice, and for upholding the finest and highest traditions and standards of the Los Angele Polic Department, and extend him and his family best wishes for a healthy, e'nz·o able nd successful retirement. RESOLUTION

Sergeant II+I Joseph E. Priebe Serial Number 21926

WHEREAS, Sergeant II+I Joseph E. Priebe will retire on January 8, 2010 after 32 1/z years of honorable and dedicated service from the Los Angeles Police Department; and

WHEREAS, he w~s born on June 19, .1953 in Van Nuys, California; and

WHEREAS, Sgt. Priebe attended school in Reseda, California at Shirley Elementary School, Sequoia Junior High and graduated from Reseda High School in 1971. Thereafter, he graduated from Los Angeles Valley College in 1976 earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice; and
