JOIN THE VIN PROGRAM IN
FOUR EASY STEPS:
1. Pick up to five letters
and three numbers that
will appear on the
plate. e.g. SAFE 123
2. Register the letter-
number combination
with the BC Forest Safe-
ty Council to confirm
that it’s available.
3. Order the plate from
your local sign shop.
4. Mount the plate on the
front bumper of your
vehicle.
The Vehicle Identification Number Program
(VIN) encourages communication between
resource road users and increases driver ac-
countability. The program is voluntary, but
many licensees require contractors and staff
to register in the program.
VIN plates, usually constructed from lightweight aluminum
show an alphanumeric identifier; a unique combination of
three, four or five letters at the top of the plate (usually an
abbreviation of the company name, or an acronym) identi-
fies the vehicle owner or company. Three numbers on the
lower part of the plate identify the specific vehicle in the
company fleet.
Interested individuals and companies can find out more info
by contacting Transportation Safety or checking out VIN at:

and physical fitness influence safety. There will be a trade show with targeted safety products and services for conference at-
tendees. A video conference will be available in Port McNeill for delegates who are unable to make the trip to Nanaimo.
Conference registration information and forms are available on the BC Forest Safety Council Website.
