l The old way-– Ventilator in a text book– Ventilator on a test lung(maybe)– Ventilator on an intubated patient
l The new way-– Ventilator on computer– Ventilator on a intubated computer
enhanced lung simulator– Ventilator on an intubated manikin– Ventilator on an intubated patient

Strategies for ImplementationStrategies for Implementation
l Traditional:– Two programs, two accreditations, two sets
of faculty. High cost, High maintenance.
l Semi-traditional– Two programs, one-traditional, one non-
traditional. Medium cost, high maintenance.
l Non-traditional– One program, modules online for advanced
program. Lowest cost, lowest maintenance.

Discussion Questions…Discussion Questions…l What about difficulty teaching entry and
advanced in two years?l How are your simulation pass rates?l Are you seeing a drop in quality and
quantity of incoming students?l How easy will it be to meet state demands
for transferable courses if some AS programs are entry and others advanced?
l What if the state mandates all associate degree programs contain approximately 62 units including prerequisites(Florida)?
