India Duncan 02-03-2013 Reading Summary If the film had not been introduced before it was shown, I would not have understood its purpose. I definitely would not have interpreted as the failures of time travel. La Jetee is a film that I could not follow. The film was difficult to understand as a whole because I could not hear the speaker of the film, and the still shots together did not create a clear message. However I would say that some of the still shots that were placed together to create a clip, I did understand it in relation to the entire movie. For instance at the very end when the time traveler is shot, I am able to see a connection between this still and the stills of the scientists experimenting on their subjects. And from reading the PDF it says what I was thinking. Being that this film is about time travel, I thought about the consequences of time travel, the hassle of reminiscing the past, and its memories. It is called the past for a reason because time progresses, and as time progress, we age, and become wiser, more experienced. Another clip was the lady who lye in bed and suddenly awoke. I interpreted this clip as time travel only being a dream because in the real world time traveling is impossible. So, for this short moment when the lady flickered her eyes, I thought reality had entered the film. I also began to connect it to the stills that were hazy. Deciding whether this book has similar traits to the book form is hard. As I said before, only a few stills came across as a narrative. The sequencing of the still images was sort of random. In this film I did notice breaks, or pauses within the film. There was darkness between some of the clips. So, if this were placed in book form, this dark light would act as a blank page. Would I did like about the film and what I thought of doing in my own photo book is to create repeating images to form my narrative.

India Duncan 02-03-2013 Reading Summary If the film had not been introduced before it was shown, I would not have

understood its purpose. I definitely would not have interpreted as the failures of time

travel. La Jetee is a film that I could not follow. The film was difficult to understand as a

whole because I could not hear the speaker of the film, and the still shots together did not

create a clear message. However I would say that some of the still shots that were placed

together to create a clip, I did understand it in relation to the entire movie.

For instance at the very end when the time traveler is shot, I am able to see a

connection between this still and the stills of the scientists experimenting on their

subjects. And from reading the PDF it says what I was thinking. Being that this film is

about time travel, I thought about the consequences of time travel, the hassle of

reminiscing the past, and its memories. It is called the past for a reason because time

progresses, and as time progress, we age, and become wiser, more experienced.

Another clip was the lady who lye in bed and suddenly awoke. I interpreted this

clip as time travel only being a dream because in the real world time traveling is

impossible. So, for this short moment when the lady flickered her eyes, I thought reality

had entered the film. I also began to connect it to the stills that were hazy.

Deciding whether this book has similar traits to the book form is hard. As I said

before, only a few stills came across as a narrative. The sequencing of the still images

was sort of random. In this film I did notice breaks, or pauses within the film. There was

darkness between some of the clips. So, if this were placed in book form, this dark light

would act as a blank page. Would I did like about the film and what I thought of doing in

my own photo book is to create repeating images to form my narrative.
