Hello, Giinagay, Hai, We wish Bu Lyndsey (Mrs C) the best of luck as she begins her maternity leave today. She is an outstanding teacher who gives 100% to the students, school and community. Thank you very much for absolutely everything that you have achieved for us all. Enjoy! Peter Johnson will be back on the 4/5/6 class full time as of next week. He is really excited to be taking up this positon as he is an ex-student of SHPS and it is fantastic that he is inspired to come back to his own public primary school. The new staff joining our dynamic team are Wayne Brennan, an Environmental Teacher and 2NVR 105.9 radio presenter will be working on Fridays with the Bush Tucker Garden and Radio Skills. Tim McCormack and Kurt Forslund are both casuals working as School Learning Support Officers. Welcome to all and we hope your time with us will be rewarding and fulfilling. Dare to Lead Committee – Tuesday 24 Feb 4pm

The Dare to Lead Aboriginal Education Committee will be meeting next Tuesday to discuss and plan the vision for the next 12 months and beyond; the Bush tucker garden, NAIDOC and other activities. We would like as many parents and community members to come along and contribute to our dynamic program.

Peer Leadership Camp

On the 12th and 13th of February year five and six students went on a leadership camp at the Scotts Head Youth Centre. They did all sorts of activities. Everyone’s favourite activity was ghost crabbing. Followed by Harry Mitchell, one of Mrs E’s students she taught who she invited back to tell the year 6 students about high school and the adventures he had when he was at Scotts Head Public School.

Then the third favourite thing was cooking the dinner on the barbeques with Mrs E and Mrs Stuart. All the kids loved being taught by Mrs E and seeing her. The kids worked great together to clean up they also went to the rock pool for a swim. We had and new record at our leadership camp not only did everyone pass the exam but everyone got 16/16 which is an awesome achievement.

First session is Friday 27 February. ILCA will consist of fun and motivating extra-curricular activities through which our students will engage with Indonesian language and culture. ILCA is also aimed to engage parents and the wider community with our Bilingual Program in a variety of settings and activities. We would love your participation! The note will come home on Monday for parents to indicate if they wish to help out with the activities. The students will be rotating throughout the activities in Peer Groups over eight weeks. SRC Harmony Day Disco – Fri 27 Feb – 5.30-8.00 pm

On Friday the 27th of February we are holding a Harmony Day Disco. You will need to wear as much orange as possible. The cost will be five dollars each and that will cover the barbecue, drinks, dessert, disco, prizes for the king and queen for each class and great music. Next week the SRC will be distributing a colour competition which will be judged on the night. A permission note will come home soon.

Bio-Dynamic Garden

Every Thursday between 2 and 3pm we have a class come to the gardens to learn vegetable gardening, Australian Natives or growing and harvesting bush tucker. There are few schools in NSW that offer this to their students. But we can't do it without the help of parents. We need only 1 person per week. Were we to have 4 people working on a roster basis each mum/dad would help once a month. If you can help, please leave your name at the office. Michael Blockey, Learnscape Co-ordinator.
