The IILM PGDMEstablished in 1993, IILM offers AICTE approved Post Graduate Diploma in Management in its three well-located campuses in the National Capital Region.

1. Globally Benchmarked Curriculumwith Blended Learning Our curriculum imbibes the best aspects of courses offered at top business schools around the world. The course modules are inspired by the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Wharton Business School and IIM-A. The curriculum follows a blended learning pedagogy that encourages students to apply concepts. It enables the students to hone their decision making process that allows them to apply their knowledge into worthy ideas.

The program is delivered over 6 terms; each term spread over 3 calendar months. The students are taught foundation concepts of management and learn the basic tools and techniques being used by managers. The academic year starts with term one that covers general management perspective courses. The courses equip students to solve complex managerial issues, the students gain insight into the perspective of a capable and efficient manager.

The blended and experiential learning, practical exposure and continuous feedback from academic and career advisors are aimed at enhancing the leadership style by developing managerial skills of the students. Term two and three shall focus on core foundation courses that shall build the foundation of management education in each discipline calibrated to the skills, experience and future goals.

7

In the second year the students can choose their electives from six major areas. IILM’s approach to majors provides our students- Electives and International Trek full time manage-ment program. IILM’s approach to majors gives our students the flexibility and guidance they need to carve out a unique intellectual experience that is relevant to their specific educational and career goals.

The Global Study programme in the second year provides students the option to choose sub-jects based on their specialisation. The subjects taught during the Global Study programme will be regarded as ‘Elective’ and integrated in the two year PGDM curriculum.

Internships (Real World Training)At IILM Summer Internship is taken very seriously and is a major part of the curriculum activity. The students are put through a work shop prior to the summer intern to ensure that they understand the importance and the learning process. Our curriculum mandates a minimum of 2 (8 to 12 Weeks)-month long internship, meant to provide a first-hand experience of the business world. Moving from the classroom to the corporate reality through summer internships makes our students more proficient at handling real life challenges making effective decisions. It will acquaint students with the demands of professional world of work in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude to perform effectively. This short term experience provides a real insight into what it’s actually like working in a particular job or career field.

SIP (Summer Internship Program) projects are evaluated by faculty mentors before they are allocated to the students. The faculty mentors also visit companies and interact with the industry mentors on a regular basis to track the progress of the students’ performance. Students are required to submit fortnightly a progress report to their mentors as a part of their evaluation. Guidance on how to prepare their reports is provided by faculty mentors during students’ non-working hours. The project is culminated with a presentation by the student before a panel of company representatives and the industry mentor at the company premises.

The final stage of assessment comprises a written report detailing the description of the SIP, the student’s analyses and recommendations and a presentation of the same before a panel of faculty and alumni.

2. Global Study & International TrekIn today’s business environment, it has become vital for businesses to tap into global markets in order to ensure their viability of a venture. Creating and maintaining international relationships and networks are key skills that all managers are expected to have. Matching global norms has become an imperative.

In keeping up with these requirements of the ever-globalizing environment, IILM mandates a three-week global study in Germany, Canada, Finland, France or Spain. The purpose of the global study is to give students a global exposure in terms of teaching pedagogy, industry visits and diverse cultural immersion to enable them to expand and develop their outlook.

During this four week period, the students complete the course modules (which are counted towards their elective credits), to enhance their skills of working in diverse teams and learn to understand and accept cultural diversity in its context. This helps to widen their horizon.

11

12

International treks give PGDM students the opportunity to explore the economic, political, and cultural contexts of business in regions around the world. During such tours / treks the students, partner with faculty and staff mentors to plan the tour content and logistics.

An organizing team would identify a theme for which the students are passionate about and design a series of treks, usually a one week trip with students who are excited about educational entrepreneurship and innovation, to explore this in detail. Student participants have the opportunity to learn about the theme and experience specific challenges associated with it first-hand. In addition they meet, learn from, and exchange ideas with business and government leaders outside India.

These treks can take place at any time of the year, as long as they do not conflict with classes. Treks are an organized travel, and mostly focus on professional development based on an industry or geographic location. Planning a trek gives you the opportunity to test out your leadership skills, get an in-depth look at a particular industry or geography, and build contacts to help you in the future.

13

In addition to the Global Study we also have a 7 day International Trek where students go to a different country to visit industries and meet key functional people to understand what is the requirement and the skill sets required to work in various functional areas. Each student will visit one country (Israel, Estonia, and Shenzhen) during their PGDM program,

The IILM Career Center helps students to get out of their comfort zones and explore their potential. Launching successful careers through a combination of academic courses and practical guidance, IILLM Career Center aims at steering the students in the right direction for a fulfilling professional life through a variety of endeavours.

IILM Career Center offers support and guidance through Alumni Connect where students get an opportunity to meet, interact and learn from Alumni as well as explore possibilities of working with them. Those students who are unclear about their choices can turn to the Career Advisory to point them in the right direction through a series of advisory and Counselling. Through Industry Interactions with different industries Career Center hopes to expose students to wider career choices and explore new horizons. The students, who aspire towards International Education, are guided on courses and universities abroad and how they can apply and get admission in a course and university of their choice. The Career Center hopes to nudge the students towards world renowned and Ivy League academic institutes providing counselling for the same.

IILM Career Center also offers several courses to help students fit in seamlessly in the professional world.

Career Center believes that the world is your oyster and students can achieve anything they wish in life or go anywhere because they can create the opportunity or develop the ability to do so.

7. 10000+ Well Placed Alumni

Alumni are a very important resource of any university and at IILM we are proud to have a huge network of over 10000 alumni who are well placed at various capacities across industries both domestically and abroad. They have risen to high ranks and hold excellent positions in reputed companies.

We strive to engage with our alumni in various ways. They are invited to interact with students to motivate them about careers or to deliver guest lectures on topics of their expertise. They are consulted with regards to suggestions of industry specific workshops to hone our students’ skills. They also become alumni mentors to our students, thus providing them with first-hand knowledge and experienced advice along with a platform for networking. They are invited to sit on panels to conduct SIP viva and/or judge SIP report and become a part of our Board of Governors. We also maintain relationships with them by organizing annual meets on campus.

27

“There have been successes. I have learnt more from failures. Failures are very important. Three lessons in life- First, most important is excellence in execution. Second- Managing people becomes very important. Third- Keep learning and experimenting new things. If you are not experimenting, you are not learning. Fail fast and move on. Finally have fun...... and Build your network”

Mr. Virakam Manocha

Talent Acquisition Head India Tech, Amazon Batch 1995-97

8. Campus Life IILM has 3 campuses that are centrally located in New Delhi, Gurugram and Greater Noida. But the goal driving them forward is one and the same – to train and develop skilled and responsible managers of the future.

The Lodhi Road campus is the hub of South Delhi, bustling with activities and places to visit. Being at the political center of the country, allow students to be privy to first hand developments in business and politics alike.

The Gurugram campus is located on Golf Course Road, in the heart of the industrial hub of Gurugram - an epicenter of industry as well as startups. Our students have the advantage of gaining the rich knowledge of business and entrepreneurship from their surroundings as well as our in-house incubation center.

The Greater Noida campus, it is located in the Knowledge Park of Greater Noida with easy access to companies like LG and Moser Baer. Educational institutions in the area also provide a platform for networking and knowledge sharing.

Our Gurugram and Greater Noida campuses provide safe and secure residences for students and faculty alike. Constant monitoring by security guards and cameras, comfortably furnished apartments, delicious and wholesome food, and a friendly environment ensure that students can live in a safe and comfortable haven – a ‘home away from home’.

“My experience in IILM started with the hostel and honestly I am having the best time ever. The location is superb, I have met tons of amazing and interesting people and there is always so much to see and do. It is immensely safe and secure with female and male guards at the main gate and hostel entry.”

Sonam Gupta (PGDM, 2015-2017)

I feel completely safe, comfortable and cosy at the hostel. My colleagues here are awesome and I love spending time with them in the class as well as in the hostel. The quality of food and the housekeeping deserves special mention. My biggest concern before joining the hostel was the food, but now I am happy as the food is tasty as well as healthy.

9. Merit and Means Scholarships and LoansIt is our effort to make education more affordable for students from all walks of life. We always endeavour that every deserving student gets the opportunity for quality education. This is made possible by our merit and means based scholarship policy. We have also partnered with certain banks so as to make the procedure for application of education loans a little easier for students. Our aim is to help you bridge the gap between the cost of our programme and student’s ability to pay.

We have various categories of scholarships that have been designed to cater to different types of students, academic, sports and extracurricular excellence, etc. Please ask your admissions counselor for details and criteria for all categories.

The decision of the Scholarship Award Committee on the eligibility and grant of the scholarship to a student will be final. No two/ more categories of scholarships can be combined

A Typical Day on Our CampusStudying, learning, and practicing business theories is not enough for a holistic manager. There is learning beyond curriculum, which involves soft skills like teamwork, interactions, networking and communication. There is also the need for pursuing co-curricular interests that help in building a manager’s personality. A typical day on campus incorporates all these needs and makes the day a wholesome one for every student.

A variety of clubs and organizations exist on campus offering a range of leadership opportunities. They offer the scope of refining management and leadership skills, exploring interests and building networks. Conferences, monthly events, annual festivals, TEDx talks, inter-campus debates and in-house publications are just a few of the options available to the students to expand their horizons in terms of co-curricular activities.
